Burnley pretty much could fill a starting XI with CBs so if we're going to look anywhere for a fairly realistic loan it'd be there. John Egan hasn't been playing much.

Agreed about Bassette. He's clearly talented, but he's a long way off in his development to warrant starting week in week out. He should've done much better with both of his chances vs Cardiff.

One player i'd be keen on who doesn't seem to be playing at all is Ben Mee. Again wages would more than likely be an issue and his legs probably aren't what they were but he'd be exactly the sort of player from a leadership perspective we'd want.

January is a turgid window to do business in. You often have to over pay for permanent transfers and for the demographic of loan we're looking at, most parent clubs will probably be wanting a sizeable chunk of the player's wages covered. Otherwise they may as well just keep them until the summer...

Unless both parent clubs of those two are willing to cover 75% of their wages I think those suggestions can be filed under not a chance.

It's not uncommon for struggling sides to have a slight surge over a few games. I remember in the dreaded Thorn days we went something like 7 or 8 games unbeaten at one point in the 11/12 season. So the spell pre-Derby doesn't really definitively point to a turn around. But take it however...

It's not just the CBs though, everyone across the backline is culpable. MVE has been notorious for it this season.

Dovin looks OK and has potential but another has to come in in the summer to compete and support him. I'd get rid of Wilson, Tyler and Collins (god knows who will take him) and possibly look to bring in an older head.

Think that probably proves my point considerably more than it does yours I'm afraid.... He's 23 next year and is nowhere near the first team. It's pointless keeping him. If anything it'd be far better for him and his prospects of having a career to seek other opportunities.

Before we axe the entire team we need to see how FL can work with what he has and whether he can turn the form of certain individuals around. Pointless making these kind of forecasts at this stage of the season.

I'd imagine he's not on a cheap salary though. That would've been his second contract extension since arriving at the club, plus a promotion. For someone that's likely to be potentially third choice not sure how cost-effective keeping him on the books is.
