Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Oddly the Tories seem to have had good success in Scotland defending their seats according to the exit polls.

It’s hard to tell, could be high in one area/seat but shit in another. Interestingly The Telegraph has just reported that CCHQ are claiming that the turnout is high.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Possibly anecdotal but lots commentators, a good number of local press etc suggesting that there’s been a high turnout. Unexpected if that’s the same story all across the country. Not sure how it will affect the results if true but whatever it is it has to be a good thing thing regardless simply...

If it’s the one that The Sun ran as a story on it was done in a select number of schools. The type of school that’s about to start charging VAT.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Pretty sure Labour has taking up that invitation in its manifesto. The problem with an Anglo French solution thus far the government has treated more like exporting the issue rather than dealing with an issue. It clearly needs a multi nation consensus and solution on how to deal with it.

Hasn’t worked in either of those countries though. Australia started in 2012. 12 years later they still have the same issues.

I think France offered it as a solution, we turned it down. Even if not we have a half empty consulate in Calais, IIRC consulates have the same protections as embassy’s in that they’re classed as the sovereign territory of said country not the host country. So we could do processing there. It...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

The other problem with using Australia as an example of third country processing is that it fails in its core mission and this will sound familiar, it’s to bust the people smuggling gangs. Australia started third country processing in 2012, a mere 12 years later and they still haven’t bust the...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Why don’t we do third country processing in France then? We can then give them safe passage to the UK should their application be successful and take them out of the hands of the gangs and out of small boats. We do share a land border with the ROI, it’s called Northern Ireland.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I went to Copenhagen about 18 years ago to watch Northern Ireland vs Denmark in a European qualifier. Got on the train at the airport, got off at one of the city centre stations and behind it was all African shops and a lot of Africans mulling about. I was in Copenhagen previously to that for...

Labour are pledging one fiscal event a year from memory. I think that’s exactly why industry backed them in that open letter saying exactly as you say, they can’t invest with confidence under the Tories.

Apparently 75% last year. They’re also excluding other skilled workers from any “ban” list although they’ve provided no definitive list so best case scenario they’re going to cut immigration by 25%. A lot of people are going to have to leave the country to hit their net zero immigration pledge...

    General election poll

I’ve been reading up a fair bit on the NI situation and there is one possible upset on the cards. DUP leader Gavin Robinson could lose his seat to Naomi Long, leader of the Alliance Party. DUP on a knife edge in a couple of other seats too but Robinson would be the big scalp.

Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

One problem. That was Trumps policy, the withdrawal began on Trumps watch by the time Biden took power there’s was only about a fifth of the US forces in Afghanistan as there was when Trump took over from Obama and the Taliban were already running riot. I ain’t saying Biden and us for that...
