Gyökeres was failing to be picked by the same team that is now not picking Paterson. Sheaf had spent a season in League One w Doncaster, OHare was in League Two w Carlisle, Walker played more for Lincoln in League One than for Forest in the Championship. I’m not sure you can call any of them...

Anywho I’m now really hoping Paterson joins if only so he can join the long list of CCFC players whose names are misspelt by most fans (cf Tommy Hutchison, Kevin Gallacher, Michael Mifsud)

I don’t disagree with how Godden has been good for us that’s not the point I was making It’s factually accurate, we turned to Godden only when Tyler Walker chose to turn us down and go to Lincoln. If you’re really looking for a single worst takes I could refer you to some of your own….

Not quite. Peterborough got Mohammed Eisa in to displace Godden. As for Paterson his reputation at Bristol City was excellent. Fans loved him. He ran out his contract and moved on. No point pretending otherwise.

Except Godden was decidedly not on the up. He had been deemed surplus to requirements at Peterborough and was squeezed out by Toney and Eisa. It turned out well for him and us but we paid a repeorted £750k on a Peterborough reserve in League One. I don’t know what this means about Paterson but...

It was actually a choice between Tyler Walker and Matty Godden. The former (young, full of potential, tipped for the top) turned us down and we spent £750k on the bloke who couldn’t get in Peterborough’s starting XI.

Burnley were v canny. We’re fastidious in not crowding Wilson for the resulting corner in case the ref was inclined to give a soft free kick for a foul on the keeper. Melee Goal

As I said on a different thread I would have been delighted to sign him at any point in the last 10 years. I have some doubts over his current form and apparent attitude (essentially going on strike last January for an improved contract) but if he’s coming here there are some major positives...
