Match Thread Bristol City (A) 24th August 12:30 KO

Good teams get the ball to their best players. We need to work the ball in midfield to Rudoni and Saka far more often, spark them into contributing their quality. They can get the ball to our strikers.

In the end I think we've gone for quantity rather than quality. Maybe that balance hasn't quite been right given the amount of money we've spent. Ok I understand the model is to find and develop to sell on but you need a successful team to make anyone shine.

I just want us to come out stoked up and high tempo from the off.

You reckon the existing defence is 'dream territory' then?

    Team Leader?

I think Sheaf is respected but I don't think he's outgoing, vocal or overtly passionate enough to motivate enough on the pitch.

    Team Leader?

Because we need someone on the pitch who can get around the players, giving energy, lifting heads, spreading messages, getting onto the ref, even getting the crowd going. Someone who looks at a team perspective and motivation on the pitch rather than just doing their job.

Match Thread Bristol City (A) 24th August 12:30 KO

With the balance of this squad we have to go out with tempo, confidence and attack, else we will concede and end up chasing games, especially away. Somehow Robins has to motivate the team to have confidence and do it from the off, not after half time. Something he's struggled to do. Think...

We need the stability and flair of Saka and MVE down the right. It would be mad to break that, especially early on when we'll probably be under pressure. Kitching did well against their lot. So I'd put him in for Lati.

Match Thread Were the Oxford goals Lucky or calamitous Defending ?

Maybe need a few more games with Sheaf in to come to a final judgement. But it may be that we bought quantity in Collins, Kitching, Thomas, Lati and DaSilva but it hasn't developed enough. As with Collins we may need to get a better proven quality CB in and sort the quantity problem over time.

    Haji Wright

Simms is an interesting one. Sometimes very uncoordinated. But hopefully lots of potential for good coaching to progress him. Both confidence players for sure. Hope they can help each other.

    Haji Wright

In an interview Haji said him and Simms made a really poor start. That's just a fact. Even he said it. But happy days at the moment.

I mean we've been looking for 'tweaks' there for years. We need some quality but that obviously isn't easy to find or cheap. I hope we are considering some loan options.

Very frustrating really. Robins has struggled. I mean his buys to sort the defence out a short while back, Collins, DaSilva, Kitching, Thomas aren't even making the team.

Lati chosen as captain is an interesting one. Thought it would be Bidwell.

Debunking the myth - ‘Doug isn’t getting the commercial things right’

Quite a generous view. 1. You'd be better off properly consulting with stakeholders, including fan reps before making some of the mistakes he's made (due to inexperience in football probably). 2. I very much doubt there was a deliberate plan to delay away shirts to stimulate sales. We are...

    Hamer replacement

Generally agree with this although Rudoni doesn't have Hamer's passing ability or vision. Not sure he can thread a pass like Palmer did last night for instance. Hopefully he can be developed. At the moment I just want to see him demanding the ball, controlling it and passing it forward. Like...
