    U23's... should we stop it?

Brings back lots of memories of the early 80s. Every other Saturday afternoon at HR watching the reserves. Hoping to see one of our younger players who would go on to be a star break through into the first team.

    Transfer Rumour Yasin Ayari

I see that fatso and you're probably right - the wing backs would certainly need to firing on all fronts to make it work.

I think that's probably right cam - and reflected in the 2 big summer signings. But if for some reason the chosen front 2 don't gel - it wouldn't surprise me to see MR moving to even more of a possession based game and boss games that way (with one up front). It's just great to be having this...

    Transfer Rumour Yasin Ayari

Agreed cc4life but it just shows how the squad is developing i.e. for the first time in years (in my own first choice team) I might have to have a player who I love on the bench. That's a good thing right?

Broadly agree with this CBS16. I love Palmer but a fully fit O'Hare is probably a better fit in that formation. Later in the season could even see: Wilson MvE Thomas Fadz Lati DaSilva Ayari Sheaf Sakamoto O'Hare Wright

When did the Arena change for you?

Not the turning point but the atmosphere against Birmingham last April was out of this world. Twist and Shout sung around the ground for over 10 minutes - not many fan bases in this country can compete with that. Different class. Speaking of Birmingham someone else said it earlier - the...

Great point Finham. He looks superb at RWB. I also see him as someone who would be brilliant with O’Hare in the front 2 of a box with HW up front on his own.

In 3 cameo appearances so far after basically stepping straight off a plane, Haji Wright has hit the bar after running half the length of the pitch at Leicester, won a penalty and scored a goal. In addition just to throw it into the mix - he cleared the stands at Wimbledon. I love the guy already.

Saka and Wright have to start in my view. Impressed by Thomas. Palmer (who I love) inconsistent today, O'Hare will suit this new system more with Palmer off the bench. I think we can play far better and sharpen up over 90 minutes - add in a couple of very high quality replacements for Hamer...

    Hamer

I usually agree with you BSB. In this case I can’t blame a very decent young bloke in keeping his financial options open - I’m a massive and long term fan of this club but even if I had played for the sky blues I would have taken the right financial option for my family in his situation. We all...

what a difference a year makes - written off on here by a couple of the usual experts just 1 year ago after the red card at Millwall.

He’s very slight in real life shmeee but certainly has the technical skills. I can’t automatically see him working with Sheaf in a midfield 2. I would see him working in the front 2 of a box with either Palmer or O’Hare.

Exactly what I would go for SBD. Could argue that Sakamoto starts ahead of Palmer or even ahead of MvE (as he gets up to speed) at RWB. And as you point out a box of Sheaf - Hamer - Palmer- Sakamoto - I def would like to see that at some stage. Wright-Simms has to be the striking pair...

FFS Give our New Players a Chance!

I wish I really could believe that having a few too many shandies was to blame skyblu3sk. Might be for a couple of folks. For the majority of the 'totally mental brigade' on here - I seriously think they don't need any shandies to go completely hysterical and reach for the Samaritans help line...

I'm a big fan of JE but in midfield - I still don't see RWB as his natural position. Van Ewijk looked much improved at Dons vs. Leicester - getting up to speed - and his pace is going to be a very key asset in our team.

I usually agree with you coop. But I would say our defence in the last 20 mins yesterday was not first choice as it stands. As in: Eccles (RWB), Saka (LWB), Bidwell (LCB) etc. Looks to me at this very early point of the season that our first choice defence will be Van Ewijk (RWB), JDS (LWB)...

honestly hard to tell under those floodlights in the second half Sparksy particularly as we were at the other end! non-league quality lights in what is a very nice small stadium. has anyone commented on the contingent of USA fans who showed up to our left - first time I've seen that at a City...

I was there and not pissed off at all. We looked sublime at times with Saka and then later Palmer. Should have won easlily but not worried about going out of this comp. We go again on Saturday with a highly talented squad - going to be an enjoyable season.

    Player ratings v Leicester

Ratings are fairer than I expected. Simms and Wright will be a nightmare for defences when paired together. You can see that Simms has the attributes so anyone on here trying to make him this season’s boo boy can fuck right off. Eccles grew into the game but I’d prefer not to see him at RWB...
