We've hardly seen Stokes at CB, I'd say it's a risk to expect him to be the solution especially with the injury he's had. Ease him back in at LB where he knows the position.
Not too surprised by that. I can't imagine the rest are on much more than 1-2K/week. Sordell an exception I'd imagine, seeing as he drives a Maserati into training every day!
Keep Sterry, sack off the rest of the loans.
1 CB and ST (preferably 2 of each) and a striker has to be priority. Then a right-footed winger and cover in CM for the inevitable Stevenson sale, as others have alluded to!
Back on topic…
I’d like to see something like this. Should play a strong team, it won’t be an easy game and I want us to progress after the cup shambles from the last couple of seasons.
RCC
Sterry
Turnbull/Ricketts
Willis
Haynes
Rose
Bigi
Stevenson
Jones
Sordell
Reid
Burge, Harries...
I think he was banned for the Morecambe game, even though he was ineligible. I know it makes no sense, but that's the only scenario I can think of - otherwise he couldn't have played v Scunthorpe.
Yeah I'd put that down to lack of communication and anticipation - maybe something that would be addressed by a more experienced defender making the early shout and sticking their head on it
Having seen Turnbull a few times now, I'm still not convinced he's good enough to be in a team that should be aiming for top half at least. Slow, struggles in the air for a reasonably sized bloke and makes poor decisions too many times with the ball at his feet. We're doing OK defensively so the...
Page, McCann, Sterry, Wright, Agyei, McBean - all loanees go back unless we extend. McCann will go as the new MLS season starts. I'd maybe keep Sterry and Agyei as cover but not bothered about the rest.
As I understand it, need to be 5 players who started the last league game in the starting XI (FA cup doesn't count). So 5 of:
Burge
Sterry
Willis
Turnbull
Page
Bigirimana
Stevenson
Jones
Agyei
Reid
Tudgay
I'd quite like to win as it means we top the group and get a home tie vs. a 2nd placed...
Pedantic alert: It's a 2 year extension to his deal that runs out in 2018, not a 3.5 year extension as is being reported by the halfwits who run the club website.
That aside, excellent news!
I actually thought old Andre did ok on Saturday. Didn’t give the ball away too much and made a few intelligent runs/dribbles in possession. Bit wasted out on the left though. I’d drop Turnbull and start Reid to give us more width and leave Bigi on the bench (probably worst of the 3 midfielders...
Turnbull was genuinely awful today. I don't really like calling our own players out but after that showing today I feel I have to. CBA to make excuses (eg. back 4 was changed around a lot after the Page and Willis injuries) because he was just terrible. Throughout he was weak in the air...
