    Spent £10m on L1 players

I think the debate has established a few things. 1) If you’re spending £4m on a player try and make sure they are good. 2) If you’re spending 1-2m on a player try and make sure they are good and 3) if you’re signing someone for more or less than that try and make sure they are good.

    Spent £10m on L1 players

Granted. But the gems are always there somewhere. It’s ridiculous to rule out making signings from there.

Coventry City U21s v Birmingham City tonight

I’ve not enjoyed a match thread as much as this in ages.

    Spent £10m on L1 players

You just can’t find talent in League 1. If you looked for gems there in times past you’d have ended up with no hopers like Maddison and Wilson.

    Wilson injured!!!!

Dovin without a shadow of a doubt.

    Sheaf

What a bizarre take some have. We’ve wasted all of that money?? We bought two strikers who got close on 20 goals each. You’d easily get the Gyokeres money back from just those two. And with the rest of the cash + Hamer we’ve constructed half a squad - all of whom are our players.

    Transfer Rumour Oliver Dovin

Dovin is what I call a zero risk signing. He’s young. He’s already recognised internationally. He’s obviously a good keeper and he has that all important calmness/aura. He’ll be our keeper for a while I think and will probably go in to big things. Wilson and Collins are perfectly acceptable back...

Questions that I genuinely can't answer

But we don’t have the players to get it right. So how long do you persist. There is a huge difference between being a possession based team to one that dicks around on the edge of their own area. It needs to be popped into midfield quickly and accurately from the back. The irony is that playing...

Questions that I genuinely can't answer

Who is talking about aiming low or being cloggers? Just saying don’t ask your players who are least comfortable on the ball to have the most time with it 30 yards from your own goal. It’s very simple, it’s a totally stupid tactic.

Questions that I genuinely can't answer

I’m not saying our players are bad. But if you’ve got Thomas, Kitching, Latibeaudiere for instance you’ve got to play to their strengths. The tactic is very high risk and normally very low reward.

Questions that I genuinely can't answer

I think you’re missing the most relevant point. The teams that are able to do it well have the best players. The teams with the best players do well.

Poll: Robins In or Out? Part 2

Robins is a good manager. We have good players. But you see good “on paper” teams losing all the time. Something in the mix has gone wrong. It’s not tactics/formations/systems, it’s mindset. None of us know what has changed. A bad apple in the mix? A dislike of coaches? Cliques forming in the...

Exactly. Moves are cash driven 99% of the time.

Questions that I genuinely can't answer

Correct. And we don’t. The amount of chances we hand to the opposition via this is alarming. And we’re not the only ones.

Moulding a team in His image

Don’t buy this at all. We haven’t spunked our money away. If you look from a purely commercial perspective the value of - at least - Wright, Simms, MVE, Sakamoto, - has increased markedly. Our playing assets are now higher than ever and not centralised in one or two players.

Jeez. Semantics. Most are excellent players. And it was good generally.

    The “too many cooks” theory

It takes time to get new ideas across. Having said that it makes the decision to allow holidays during the last international break look like the ludicrous decision it was.
