I think we have a pro which actually can be a con. We have that much attacking choice that it’s stopping Robins sticking to who he thinks is best. Of course the biggest con is our ridiculously naive defending.
To be fair he did link play quite well a few times and made some intelligent lay offs. But overall I agree - running about a lot is good but doesn’t generally win games at this level. Wright is the class forward - just a shame he’s away so much which makes selection difficult.
Maybe that is a point too high. A real quality centre forward scores that header first half. His style is laconic but that doesn’t go down well when the goals aren’t flowing.
He didn’t go missing. We made a very obvious change to get it forward quicker second half so that our non footballing centre halves didn’t have as much ball and we could pressurise theirs. That took him out of the game a bit.
Thought Robins got the system right today. But was let down by Van Ewijk in particular - which is rare. All three of their centre halves you’d describe as bang average - but we desperately need some defensive nous of that ilk.
Here we go. Robins set the team up for today and we should have won. Second half really looked like they were playing for him. Just needed one to go in. Time to get behind Robins. It will turn.
Largely eventless first half. Second half we were much better when we pressurised their back three. Wrights goal was fine. We’re far too easy to score against but we had more than enough chances to win - we just weren’t clinical enough. Some of our short range passing, especially Sheaf and...
Decent half. Just missing a bit of composure final third. Dasilva has been excellent. Bassette is an absolute pest and I’m still trying to work out why Dovin was ever dropped.
