    Summer transfer window 2024

Well, we’re desperately light. At least James would be an upgrade on Kelly from last season. A short term contract for James or Armstrong would be a decent option. Experience and leadership alone could do this team a world of good. Providing more value to the team collectively rather than...

    Xg table

The xgA table does not surprise me at all. All of our goals have been soft so far. Yes, Bristol’s was a great strike but we gave him acres of space. I need to rewatch the Norwich goal but in the stand it felt like another soft goal. In the next games I can see Thomas and Kitching coming back...

    Robins

Doug has given Robins the resources to do the job and it’s up to him to get the results and if he doesn’t, we may need to find a new manager. The aforementioned sentence means exactly the same as ‘giving Robins the rope to hang himself’. DK’s first action was to give MR & AV extended contracts...

    Robins

That were often harmless. The issues we’ve seen this season are the same ones we had against the top half teams last season. Too predictable and lethargic i.e. no risky passes between defensive lines. CM was the number 1 priority signing this summer and unbelievably we haven’t resolved this. We...

    Robins

We played about 30-35 minutes playing 4-2-4. The root cause of our issues is that Eccles and Torp partnership. Allen being a distant 2nd place tells you everything you need to know about the quality in that midfield unit.

    Robins

It’s hard to be creative when you don’t have control of midfield. Norwich weren’t great today, there were times they would make riskier passes to strikers through defensive lines. We are too cautious and will only pass out wide and by the time those wid r players have the ball, the opposition is...

    Robins

The missing ingredient is clearly Sheaf. Even then, I remember having plenty of discussion last season about missing Hamer and apparently Eccles and Torp were good enough to step up. In fact, in preseason Allen was good enough. There was a complete denial of how off the pace our midfield was in...

    Robins

That’s unfair on Rudoni, he looks good in that 10 role, but it is just Eccles and Torp (then Allen) who just look markedly off the pace. It was the same last season when Sheaf was out for the games in Feb/March - when we had COH.

    Robins

Strongly disagree. The 20m Sheaf played v Oxford was our most positive and in control we’ve looked. Without him, Torp and Eccles are struggle to progress the ball through midfield and winning it back. Greg Downes put it accurately when he said Cov were lethargic and predictable. We won’t get...

    Did anyone see Eccles

I thought he was shouting something to the bench, personally. More in frustration about how the game was going. That was my interpretation but being the other side of the pitch it’s difficult to tell what went on.

Match Thread Coventry City - Norwich City Match Thread - Saturday 31st Aug

We’re not good at keeping the ball or winning it back. To top it off, another soft goal conceded. Thomas and Kitching have kept 2 clean sheets so far, they should be starting in my view. I appreciate it’s not simple, but I don’t understand how we’ve not signed a CM or 2 this summer. Robins...

    Summer transfer window 2024

Agreed and this a process, the team is capable of getting playoffs and with some additions in Jan, we should be capable of pushing on. There’s no point over spending and this all ending in tears like it did at Derby. We’ve kept our star players and added some good depth in forward areas. All...

    Summer transfer window 2024

If he’s fell out with the manager as has been suggested, you just have to get him out of the door. It’s as simple as that, so there’s not much point dwelling on replacing a player that was a bench player for us.

    Summer transfer window 2024

I’m sure plenty of targets have been identified. Getting the deals over the line is a completely different matter.

Perhaps that’s his/his recruitment team’s fault? He sanctioned signing Bassette and BTA so clearly there was funds for a signing. If we’ve gone off chasing players who have no interest in joining us, that isn’t DK’s fault. We had £4m earmarked for Stamenic so funds were there.

    Transfer deadline incoming and goings

He literally played the most minutes per 90 in our team (82 minutes) and ranked 7th last season for minutes played. For context, Eccles minutes per 90 was 73 and he was our second in appearances after Simms. Perhaps if he didn’t have to play every minute of every game, he wouldn’t get injured...

No and with that Will King tweet makes me think something will happen. Mostly fool’s hope…
  18. Mucca Mad Boys

    Ben Sheaf

I’ve just said ideally you’d want to get 40+ games out of him. He also wasn’t injured for all of those absences and in terms of minutes played, he ranked 7th in our squad (compared to 11th on appearances). Bearing in mind the players in front of him had 10+ more appearances than him, that’s a...

    Summer transfer window 2024

Unfortunately, the stats don’t corroborate what you believe to be the case. No team has had an xG of above 1 so far this season and the game you highlight v Bristol last weekend was even. So any idea teams should’ve put 3 goals past us is just ridiculous They paint the picture that Stoke and...
  20. Mucca Mad Boys

    Ben Sheaf

He played 36/53 games, that’s hardly considered sick note worthy. You obviously want players to hit 40+ games ideally but he’s playing most games.
