Having A Bet Now And Again

£1 a week on a footy accumulator. Amazed at how many scratch cards/lottery tickets people buy - understanding probability theory is obviously not a key idea. Once saw a Chinese woman win over a thousand on the roulette in a casino and then watched as she put it all back on in the course of an...

    Why Strikers Miss Goals ?

Used to play a lot of five-a-side and all of us players could lash the ball in from any angle. It taught you to strike quickly and importantly, with small goals, put the ball where the goalie wasn't. Amazed how many professional footballers hit the ball at the keeper with a full size gaping goal.

    Joke shop nostalgia

Intershop - didn't know that - I'm talking about the early seventies. I think Santa had his grotty grotto in there at Christmas if memory serves.

    Six Nations 2019

Funnily enough a lot of players say that they find the silence a bit unnerving. Having the constant background din of the crowd is something they are always used to and this sudden focus on them as the kicker can be a bit more pressure.

    Joke shop nostalgia

On the shop nostalgia theme. I also remember a shop somewhere in the city centre, I think near the back of the Three Tuns pub near a domed newsagent?, that was a kind of small scale department store with just two floors and an escalator. As kids we were always fascinated because on the top floor...

    Six Nations 2019

Great game though, best I've seen England play for ages. Massive crunching tackles and amazing line speed just disrupted everything Ireland did - something the Irish were always good at - making it difficult for teams to settle into a forward momentum. Ireland seem to be the only nation that...

What about people who put salt and pepper on their dinner after they've eaten it, they're just mad.

    Six Nations 2019

Yes entertaining game and first time in 6 Nations any team has come back from 16 nil down at half time. French looked absolutely stunned at the end. Talk about 'game of two halves' !

    New TV series 2019

Like the Ben Fogle series about couples who have left the rat race to live in the wild. Find these kind of things compelling viewing.

    New TV series 2019

Forgot the IT crowd and just remembered The Mighty Boosh which I suppose is a kind of sitcom as it was set in a zoo. Agree on those other two awful ones. Love Lee Mack but Not Going Out just doesn't work for me.

    Joke shop nostalgia

Could've been Ford Street, I think that's in the right area. My knowledge is a bit rusty too. It was a small single fronted shop I seem to remember. I always wanted some X-ray specs thinking I could see through girls' clothes. Probably get arrested merely for that thought now.

    Things that annoy you

All this news coverage about the snow as if it's a major disaster. It's winter ffs! There are reporters out in the field exclaiming about 10 cm of snow. Cue pictures of stuck cars, children sledging on patchy snow with grassy bits and advice on how to survive this sub zero apocalypse. Any...
