Match Thread Oxford United vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Sunday 9th Sep

For me we have a good squad with a strong squad but we are not playing like we did last year that is the problem. Need Chaplin to play off JCH and pass it on the ground which is actually when we look half decent.

Match Thread Coventry City vs Rochdale Match Thread - Saturday 1st Sep

Happy with that first half. Started slow for 10/15 minutes allowing them to dictate play and have possession but once we settled thought we started playing some very nice football. Lacking a finish but creating openings. JCH playing well ... but think at times we look overrun in midfield as...

Conor Chaplin - Signing Confirmed (Finally!)

Conor Chaplin - Signing Confirmed (Finally!)

Yes agreed! Think when we had Armstrong with Lameiras/Maddison/obrien/murphy/Kent as the options for the 3 behind. Fleck and Vincelot as the holding centre mids. This season we would have 3 of: Andreu/Jones/Thomas/Shipley/Bayliss/Alassani with then 2 from Kelly/Doyle/Ogogo as our holding mids.

    My thoughts all in one

I disagree, the only quality we have lost from an attacking point of view is McNulty and certainly a big loss but we have also gained Andreu and Jones back and signed Hiwula who I think looks like he could be a threat especially with his pace that he showed in flashes on Saturday. I would rather...

Amadou Bakayoko - Confirmed 2 Year Deal

So I am underwhelmed by this signing, I will give him my full support now he is a skyblue but out of all the 1st team signings we have made, this one has me the least excited by far. We now have: Bakayoko, Huwali, Biamou, JCH and Ponticelli as our strikers. If Ponticelli was to go out on loan...

Amadou Bakayoko - Confirmed 2 Year Deal

But in terms of finding the 20+ goal player... does anyone else not think that Andreu could be that guy if he continues to play behind the striker as he appeared to on Saturday? I think he has potential to score a fair few and Jones is certainly capable to get over double figures as does Hiwula...

Amadou Bakayoko - Confirmed 2 Year Deal

This would be such a strange signing if it happens. Biamou is just signed a 3 year deal and I thought played well on Saturday and I prefer him to JCH who also just signed a 2 year deal. Would much rather Chaplin be our striking addition.

    Brandon Mason

Agreed. I thought he got forward very well, looked very quick and certainly tackled well. Think him and Brown will have a real good tussle for the left back spot.

    Another Striker to come?

I think we will sign another striker, and also think it may end up being Chaplin on like deadline day or something. But at the kit launch Robins said that he wanted another striker even if McNulty was to stay so I think a striker and centre back is still to come in.

    Robins' comments

My gut feeling would be that those comments are talking about: McDonald O'Brien Ponticelli Shipley Grimmer

Conor Chaplin - Signing Confirmed (Finally!)

Robins said we don't have millions to spend, as most clubs in this league don't. He said after we sold McNulty it's not about spending a million on one player but doing bits and bobs so I fully believe money is there for Robins to spend it's finding the right player(s).

Conor Chaplin - Signing Confirmed (Finally!)

I agree, but we didn't have to sell him right at that moment, we could have made them wait a week or 2 just like we've had to with this Chaplin deal. We need to look after ourselves first, we could have said the same as what pompey are saying. "We will sell him but only once we have a replacement".

    Tom Bayliss

I think he will stay and at the kit launch event I got a much more positive vibe from Robins about Bayliss actively wanting to sign a new contract and staying than I did from Robins same answer in regards to Mcnulty. We are under no pressure to sell and agree with previous posts .... if we...

    Transfer Rumours

How I took it from Robins the other evening was that whoever this left back is has agreed terms, nothing officially signed but terms are technically agreed and he is training so Robins can double check he really likes him before getting a contract officially signed. Robins definitely said terms...
