No doubt that it's tough on the kids. Everybody will have sympathy for them. But it is disingenuous to think that any ownership would have made an exception. If this reaction lasts, I'd wager that SISU would pay to bus them over; but it will be a non-issue in a week, and we all know it.

I assume they are smart because they have strong academic qualifications and a business that attracts wealthy investors. There would be no point in their move if the kitty was empty. Whether it's buying half of the Ricoh, or building a new stadium in Coventry, or building a new stadium...

I think that is to continually underestimate SISU. They didn't come to Coventry with a reputation for niceness, and obviously they have enough investors who keep putting money in for some reason ...

In which case the council has nothing to worry about and SISU will fold. We'll see. Meh. The deal has been agreed. I'll bet on SISU's accountants figuring out a way around that.

I don't mind politicians getting a pay rise. It's the second jobs and directorships and corporate donors that I have a problem with.

Oh it is. That's why I'm speculating about "in time". Maybe it will come to nothing, but I know that if I was a councillor who had a hand in this saga, I'd be pretty worried about the prospect of team-less stadium and that mortgage at a time of cuts.

It's not so much to do with that. More along the lines of having a big stadium and hefty mortgage with no footie club and, likely, growing annoyance from the people of the city.
