    Ex Player Watch

He was a real legend at Newcastle.

    Sheffield Wednesday at it again

My son is talking about taking my nine year old granddaughter to her first away game. She has a season ticket and is just starting to get into the game. We sit in Block 20 and we are generally surrounded by fairly decent people. I’m not sure that letting her see some of the behaviour that occurs...

    Ex Player Watch

I think like a lot of footballers, he has been suffering with dementia. Being a centre forward, who also played centre half for us, he must have headed the ball countless times. A really good player who we were mad to let go. Had a great career at Sheff. Utd but particularly at Newcastle playing...

    Ex Player Watch

I think Jacob Murphy was the best City player I have seen (I know he was on loan) in one on one goal scoring situations with the keeper. Very cool and calm for such a young player when he was here.

    Road closures

That’s where we park. Parked on the double yellow lines at the bottom of the road for the Leeds game, luckily no ticket. There was a huge number of lorries in there on Wednesday night which cut down on the places to park.

    Jamie Allen nomination

Yes, I was surprised it was Allen who made way for Grimes and not Torp. I thought he was having much more impact on the game, particularly at the start of the second half. I thought Torp had a poor game against Leeds and I’m still not convinced on his contribution to the team.

    Throw- ins

This drives me up the wall. Almost every throw in that we have in the opposition half is thrown backwards. This often results in the ball being played back to the keeper who will frequently pump it forward where we will have a good chance of losing possession. I’ve seen this happen even when...

    PA System

I notice they don’t try to interview the guest payer at half time anymore. I was wondering if this was because of the state of the PA system. Can’t hear the interviews in Block 20

    Atmosphere

I think the atmosphere at the Oxford game is up there with the best since our return to the Arena. Noise all the way from the stadium, through the tunnels and into Tesco car park at the end of the match. Inside, the stadium was a real cauldron, even the Oxford manager referred to the atmosphere...

    Allen Resurrection

Robins played him all of the time. He started the season in the team ahead of Eccles. His problem has been that for most of the last 18 months he has been injured or ill.

FA Cup Replays / Too Many Games Argument

Your feelings about the replay last season don’t seem to match those of most City fans as over 19k turned up at the CBS for the game. I think almost all would have gone home happy having seen an entertaining game and a 4-1 win for our team. Don’t forget that’s 19k customers all paying on the...

FA Cup Replays / Too Many Games Argument

I don’t agree. What you are basically saying is that going to watch your team in a football match is a chore. If that’s the case don’t go. I would hazard a guess that if we had had to replay at Hilsborough we would have taken a very healthy following. As for romanticising the FA Cup, that’s the...

FA Cup Replays / Too Many Games Argument

A few years ago, this was allowed. Quite rightly clubs were prevented from doing this as it handed the advantage back to the bigger club and made an upset (something that everyone wants to see unless it’s your own club) that much more unlikely. Just have the replays, allow the smaller clubs both...

FA Cup Replays / Too Many Games Argument

Look at the excitement that would have been missed in last years semi final if extra time was scrapped

    Jamie allen

You say he did okay, I would say he was man of the match. That doesn’t make him Hamer but it does mean he should be given credit for his performance rather than sneered at. He made a difference today and helped to put us on the front foot in an attacking sense time and time again. He has had...

Match Thread Coventry City - Sheffield Wednesday [FA] Match Thread - Saturday 11th Jan

The 90 seconds after Torps goal were my best as a City fan and that includes ‘67’ and ‘87’. To come from 3-0 down at Wembley against Man Utd and to come within a toe nail of beating them, beating Wolves at Molineux with two injury time goals. I’d stand by glorious.

Match Thread Coventry City - Sheffield Wednesday [FA] Match Thread - Saturday 11th Jan

You can see reading through this thread that those who have sought to undermine and to devalue this competition have done a good job. It used to be that cup games would see a substantial increase in the gate compared to league games. The fielding of weakened teams coupled with changes to the...
