I wasn’t trying to be unfair, more of a response to some of the discussion above about who should play on the left. I’m not totally clear what type of player EMC is yet, doesn’t seem to have loads of pace or skill but he is often in the right place even if he has missed a few sitters. He did...
He’s got potential but I don’t think he’s shown that much strength or trickery yet. Delighted that he’s scored two in two but he’s got a long way to go to be as effective as Wright.
Bassette putting the Millwall defence under a lot more pressure including almost robbing the keeper who took too long on the ball. Much more energy out there now.
Delighted that he scored but he still missed an absolute sitter minutes earlier and had largely been anonymous. Hope he kicks on but he needs to be more involved generally.
Sakamoto absolutely had the defender on toast there. Didn’t look a lot wrong with Rudoni’s challenge, maybe studs up. Could have controlled it better in the first place or hit it first time. Our best move.
I don't think Dovin has done a lot wrong, certainly not enough for all of this chopping and changing. He is a very highly-rated young keeper with a lot of scope to improve considerably. Definitely needs a run in the team now.
For those not watching, Cardiff got in behind down our left again. Corner swung in near the penatly spot where the Cardiff player had a free header which took a deflection on the way in. All far too easy.
I don’t think they were piss-poor goals. First one was a cracking ball to split the defence and a lovely finish (Thomas perhaps should have cut it out); the second (after we’d given the ball away admittedly) was again a very good assist and excellent finish. Both real moments of quality.
I’m on a plane waiting to head home reading this and thinking about the match. That really was a cracking game of football - shitty weather, good atmosphere, proper ding-dong. Thought everyone stood up and played their part. Can point at our defence for their goals but they were also really...
