Completely agree. Eccles is still one of our most underrated players imo. I thought he had a good game, particularly first half. We miss a certain steeliness / engine when he’s not in there (for instance, Stoke).

I think he’d work well centrally with someone else up there with him but he’s not a 9 and we currently play with one 9. Even Simms struggles physically up there on his own at times and looks a bit lost, I don’t think I’d want to see Tavares being the one to try and hold it up / win headers etc.

Great ball from Palmer, basically told Simms where to run and that was essentially the difference tonight. Good finish from Simms too. I maintain Palmer is the best passer of the ball in attacking areas that we have. Weight of pass is almost always perfect
