Now about that guy I didn't want called Robins...............

I too had hoped for Wise. But MR has exceeded all expectations and has been truly brilliant. This man was clearly hungry to prove himself and for success. From being very worried about another relegation, it is now not unreasonable to hope for a top six finish. After that.... who knows! PUSB.

Tommy and Colin Stein - what a pair!

The final 8 - Can we do this ?

We have as good a chance as anyone else - probably better. As it has been over a quarter of a century since our last notable cup appearance, I like to think we are on track for a visit to Wembley again. We need championship form to finish in the top six and, although not impossible, this trophy...

    Who honestly thougt...

It is unbelievable. It was not at all unreasonable, at the start of the season, to expect to be in the top third of the table with a 50/50 chance of a play-off place. It's almost as if somebody actually wants us to be relegated yet again!

    Thorn and shaw are useless.....

Perhaps they need to buy those old Volvo car with huge rubber bumpers. Add a bump a point. Let's hope they get 90 bumps this season! :p

    RIP Ernie Machin

Ernie was an integral part of our team in our early years in the top flight. Glazier; Coop; Cattlin; Machin; Curtis; Setters etc. Everyone played with total commitment back then - and they were all winners. RIP Ernie.

The More I stare at The Fixture List.........

Top six We were not only a top six side but actually topped the league around Christmas time in our first season in the Championship. After Strachan finally left, Roland Neilson came in and took us up to the very top. But sadly it didn't last and we gradually fell away and out of the top six...

Let's hope we don't get drawn against Sutton United again!

    All time fave player!

You're right. When we lashed out £100,000 (a record for a full back) on classy full back Wilf Smith from Sheff Wed, Chris Cattlin lost his place for a year or two. Mick Coop was hardly ever dropped and rarely got injured.

    All time fave player!

Mick Coop I'm glad someone has remembered Mick Coop. Mick was a sound full back and was a regular for about 10 years. He rarely missed a penalty, was an excellent defender, could move up in to midfield and occasionally scored crucial goals. He was ultra reliable, not dirty and guaranteed us a...

    All time fave player!

. Darren Huckerby was brilliant on his day, but don't forget why he was moved on. He needed constant and intensive coaching and, half the time, ran around like a headless chicken.

    All time fave player!

We've had lots of good players and a few really classy players. I think Tommy Hutchinson was the classiest of all. He was athletic, intelligent, made time on the ball, skipped over tackles, set up goals and scored them too. It's easy to name half a dozen great Sky Blues, but Tommy was number one.

    Wednesday fan in peace!

When we were in the top flight I spent many years dreading the drop, as I always figured that if we ever went down that we'd never get back up again. What I never banked on was being relegated again, to where we came from back in about 1964. If we are honest, we weren't too good to go down this...

    Bobby Gould on TalkSport

They all seemed on a downer, talking about liquidation of the club as there is no money in Coventry and Sisu are flat broke. Worst case scenario, the club folds and ceases to exist. I think we need a small miracle if things are not to go from bad to worse.

    your memorys of 1976/77 PLEASE

I was drinking in Soho, London that evening. I phoned the Daily Telegraph Sports Desk from a call box to find out the result. I didn't believe the guy when he said they were still playing! I was well pissed and couldn't understand at the time what was going on. With no instant news services in...

    Our main rival is Bristol

Exciting? Sadly you are right. But relegation fights are part and parcel of the Sky Blues. One former chairman likened being in mid table as being on holiday in the Bahamas. That said I would much rather be safe from relegation by now than have the worry right to the wire. More like terrifying...

    WHU fickle fans

Why? Why hate Sam Allardyce? I can understand you not liking him, but he seems a decent enough guy. Don't forget, he played for us for a season towards the end of his playing career and did a very good job. Just because he was a bit of a hoofer as a player doesn't mean he sometimes doesn't...

Are we going to stay up?

"On paper" all our remaining games are winable. There is nothing too scary. The important issue is that our fate is now in our own hands. Thanks to a few reasonable results, we are no longer at the mercy of other teams and their results. We need at least 14 points from the next 7 games (that's...

Juke - not going down too well....

Moving on... Very few players have left and then gone on to better things. Even a fair player looks good when playing for an ordinary team. The only shining star who left and did well was Robbie Keane - but he never fulfilled his potential in my opinion.
