Coventry City are set to announce former Watford and Burnley striker Marvin Sordell as their second signing of the summer.

The 25-year-old is understood to have agreed to join the Sky Blues after being released by relegated Colchester United, for whom he scored six goals in 29 games in League One last season before his campaign was cut short in January by a serious ankle injury that required surgery.

Sordell would have scored 12-15 goals if his campaign wasn't ended so early plus this was in an awful Colchester side.

Anyone know what that goal to game ratio percentage is?

YAY WE CAN TALK ABOUT SIGNINGS AND FOOTBALL AGAIN!!

I think Sordell is a very good player at this level. Thomas is unproven but so was armstrong. Time will tell let's just get behind them both!

I am only interested it what they can bring to the table for us. If they both have a bit of pace and strength about them then I can't wait to see them line up alongside Jodi Jones.

Jones and Lameiras will be key for us next season, with a decent striker for them to link up with I think we will be even more dangerous then last season

Looking forward to the friendlies, I know they don't give a massive idea of how they will be but always exciting!

We need defenders now!

For some reason, even though I've never seen him play, I imagine Thomas as a Leon best type player who can get into defenders faces and create space for others while not necessarily scoring lots of goals. Something we really missed last season

He looks like he could be a Dominic Samuel type, but that might be because of the hair

Interesting signings these two...Sordell is a decent 'name' but with no real stats to back up early promise. Like someone else stated earlier, I'm not going to judge either on their stats to date. Thinking positively about these:

* TM and MV has suggested a thorough search for players, so trusting them on these two.
* Both are permanent signings.
* Good to have new options up top.
* Good to get them in at the start of pre-season as opposed to training with the squad for an hour before the league starts.

Apparently TM is still keen to bring Arma back as well. Now that would be amazing to get him back. If that happens, a couple of wide men and a focus on defence and we've won the league by December. Obvs.

We've also moved on to 2 year contracts as opposed to the previous 1 year jobbies.

Marvin Sordell: Professional career average is one goal in every five games. He is 5' 10'' - same as Kwame Thomas.

If Lameiras is anything more than a bit-part player I think we have problems,
Far to easily pushed around for my liking.
Unless he's been pumping iron all summer of course.

We need to win the league by December, cos you know we will go into a free fall slump after that.

2 good signings....positive by TM and MV. Of course we don't know yet if they will fulfil our desire and dreams. But it is a statement by the management that I think is welcomed by supporters. With Jones crossing in for these two I hope we create lots of chances.
I'd lost my mojo a few weeks back...a few more signings like these (good centre halves next please) and I will be itching for the new season.

Bit underwhelmed, but that said can't be a worse option than fortune to have on the bench

I had to remind myself about Sayoud and look him up on our website. Forgotten all about him.

Can I be the first to call him 'Sod All' please, on account of any barren spell he might have.
Just thought it best to get it in the open first.

I hope that "Sod All" turns out to be like "McGoal Drought"!

Underwhelmed by a once worth £3m ex-Premier League player who's only 25 y/o? Did you expect England to win the Euros too?...

Sordell would be decent. Not had the best of time more recently but used to be a great striker when at Watford (think it was) and always rated him.

Your defence is terrified cos' Sordell's on fire.

Good luck to them both.

Always rated Sordell whenever I've seen him. I'm surprised his goalscoring stats are so low but he will run the channels and stretch teams. Is this an early sign that we will be a more counter-attacking team. I know TM has expressed a few times how he's been frustrated with teams sitting behind the ball with us trying to break them down, maybe he's going to try and copy Leicesters style this year.

That Anthony Hornsby is a weird fucker ain't he?

As for the signings, very underwhelming. TM's transfer business for us since he's been here has been largely poor so I can't say I have much faith in him in this department.

The original reference to Sordell by TM has been removed from the offal. Maybe the announcement was a bit premature.

Don't think Sordell has signed yet, no story saying so on official site.. but I'd expect contract details will be resolved soonish.

Thankfully July 1st has come, domestic football is just around the corner.
Pleased we've finally signed a player, I'd be happy with sordell too when/if that happens. AA back on loan sky's are blue again.
Hoping TM has found that dominant central defender soon too

But no idea who either of these two are.
