Since he was linked with us Wednesday have signed Steven Fletcher and signed a new one year deal with another front man Jose Semedo. Strikers Forestieri, Gary Hooper, Lucas Joao, Atdhe Nuhiu and Sergiu Buş are also all ahead of Lavery in the pecking order. Still unclear whether he has been released or not but it will be a surprising if a new deal is offered to him considering he would be lucky to get a minute of playtime. It is likely that TM is possibly still in conversation with him

I have a feeling that this article does have some accuracy but as a whole largely exaggerated. Portsmouth have signed 2 prominent strikers already in this window. Curtis Main from Doncaster and Michael Smith from Swindon, both for undisclosed fees. Seems odd considering Lavery was arguably going to be one of their main striking targets in this window. Maybe the asking price for his compensation was out of their budget range however compensation of up to £1 million seems very far fetched to say the least. Baring in mind he has never been a valuable player for Wednesday. He's been loaned out numerous times and made no more than 40 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday scoring around 6 goals for them. His loan stints have been successful but hardly anything to shout about and have usually been relatively short. He has only been with Sheffield Wednesday for 4 years which is by no means a massive amount of time invested into any player. I think Portsmouth were put off by the risk as it says in the article but it would be an unlikely risk. It is uncommon that these types of deals ever go to tribunal unless it is for a player of value. Case in point Danny Ings for Burnley. However tribunals do usually lie in favour of the team which the player is exiting. However considering Lavery is a player with a fairly stagnant career I don't see why Wednesday would ask for a ridiculous compensation fee he is not a player of considerable worth and tribunals can take months to be completed therefore why would they waste the time
