Ah bless...is that your go to phrase when you disagree with somebody?

No - never said it before - I just can't believe there is another retard like Dongle - perhaps I'm wrong - first time for everything.

You don't think we'd be higher in this league with James Collins or a proven striker up top then? Clueless...

Well Turd I guess we'd be better off if we had Harry Kane upfront.

Listening to the comments it sounds like our issues will be solved if we get a good creative midfielder who can slot a ball through and pick up play, moving the ball forward with some urgency. Also we need to find the combination of striking partnership.
But how much did tactics play a role? Do we have players in our squad who can adapt or do we need to bring in a couple?
Been saying for weeks its a creative midfielder (Andreu) or wide man (Baker would have been great) who can create and chip in with goals that we lack. We have one threat going forward and that is Jones. If he is double teamed or has an off game we just don't look like scoring. We essentially only create chances on which ever wing Jones is playing and even then because he prefers to shoot he doesn't create that many chances for others per game. We need another outlet, and when we get one we wioo start to stretch teams and create more chances for the strikers.

Has he ever played there before? We need someone for sure. Jones gets triple marked at times.

<snip>.
If Jones is triple-marked, that means there are 2 players somewhere who are unmarked, so it's his job to pass it to them.

You’re right, which is why it’s a waste bringing Ponticelli on with 10 minutes left, he’s not going to change the game. I think it’s time to give DKE a rest, he didn’t contribute too much positively today. Works hard, and he will improve. I was pleased to see Ben Stevenson in the team as I was keen to see him play, but I was disappointed in his performance, and for me he needs to do more to fulfill the potential that people see in him. He’s young, and for me, needs to start dictating in the midfield.

If you’re going to play that front two, I would play McNulty behind them as I believe he can be creative. In terms of the overall game, I thought Accrington were comfortably the better side, played it well on the ground in the first half, scored a well worked goal, and competed strongly across the park. We were mostly poor. I also thought that their support was excellent, for a small crowd, they were very vocal and supportive of their team throughout. The Sky Blue army, although out in force, was quiet, but I wouldn’t be too critical, the team didn’t give us much to get excited about today. The way we played today, was at best play off level performance.
Agree about Stevenson very disappointing in the Blackburn game, way too lightweight in this league as soon as I heard the team news I said to my son we would lose! Cannot afford to carry players when we need to grind out results, we need steel in the midfield as all good teams do

Its great for the youth team to be getting chances in the 1st team but they are being out muscled and the games are just passing them by, real shame but thats the way it is, hopefully they will toughen up but its a big ask if its not in your nature

Stevenson showed some real promise when he first came in and that was in League One. He is now playing one level lower, so should be able to shine.

Yes, I know, but when you look at someone like Devon Kelly-Evans, his first thought seemingly is pass the ball sideways or back. Jones seems to be the only player willing to try and take players on.

Pretty dreadful. Accrington started well and scored from some horrendous defending. Their move such a nothing move I instantly forgot how the build up happened it was that poor from us.
Some maybe pen shouts although both were clutching at straws in desperation. Dev I'm afraid at this moment in time should be nowhere near this first time. It's not even his height or build, he doesn't have any skill or pace either! It's almost like playing with a man down. I know that's harsh, it's not his fault but he was brought in with us down to bare bones and now our injured players are fit again, so he has to go out. Can't really remember any clear cut chances for us and I don't think burge had anything to do after the goal.
As for our fans, quiet bar a few idiots arguing with each other about whether they should be swearing in front of children. Bad day really and one that needs to be forgotten
The day doesn't need forgetting, it needs to be a catalyst for Robins to finally wake up to the warning signs that have been evident all season. The way we are set up is utterly one dimensional. How individual players are getting called out and even their careers written off is beyond me when the team is set up in such a limiting way. I've been saying this since Yeovil and people keep calling me negative - it is not me that is negative but the tactics we use. Aiming for 1-0s is ok in theory but we have to be able to do something different if we concede early or a team parks the bus. Newport, Yeovil, Barnet, Accrington - almost a third of our games where we have looked utterly devoid of ideas to break teams down. We have to have at least a threat from the other wing or down the middle to alleviate the doubling up on Jones or we will struggle for goals for the rest of the season, whoever is playing up front for us. 5 first half goals in 16 matches now this season is an awful stat.

I'm going to get slaughtered for this but I wouldn't mind having Kyel Reid back!
Yeah, I'd have him back for the one first game where he would be brilliant, but would then send him straight back out on loan again and then just bring him back every 6th or 7th game for the one off bit of brilliance.

Would need putting to, and clearing by the Football League though to see if they will play ball.

Tell you what I saw about our fans. Big majority of them were smashed off their tits. I love a day out but jeez, get a hold of yourself.

One fan got chucked out for starting on another one of his own fans. Beer bottled got chucked onto the pitch. Fans slagging off players from 15 minutes in and the worst of the lot, a fan calling their centre half a Monkey and his mates laughing..what a bunch of cunts

Well that's alcohol for you.

Fine, have a drink or two, but to go into a game completely out of it I just don't get. No good either if you are spoiling it all for your fellow supporters.

Yeh, there were some young adults standing at the side near the corner flag who appeared to be abusing their players, couldn’t hear what they were saying, but seemed unpleasant. I also noticed that in the second half, there were scores of men near the bus at the back of our standing area, just drinking with no interest in the game. WTF??

Yes unfortunately the words monkey and c*#t were used way to often.
My 12 year old son looked me at one point and said shall we move, he was appalled by the racial slurs.

We do have a moron section of the fan base unfortunately and plenty were out yesterday.

These people need reporting, although I know how difficult that is - they’re not exactly pleasant people.

They were giving their number 4 some real abuse and he hadn't done anything. That with the bottle and the orange that just missed their goalkeeper are totally unacceptable. Away games with some of our fans is not an enjoyable experience and I have never understood the need to drink non stop and miss a good portion of the game

I’ve been saying since the first few games in; we’re so one dimensional tactically. We have one game plan:

First Half - defend deep, don’t concede, pass to Jones and see if he can conjure anything on his own.
Second Half - move further up the pitch, allow Kelly to play box to box, and pass to Jones and see if he can create something with slightly more support than the first half.

From an attacking perspective we are a one person team (although it could be argued potentially two now with Duck emerging) and even then all we seem to do is try to pass to Jones and see what happens. There doesn’t seem to be any direction at all. We are reliant on a player who is having a good season by L2 standards but is no way the finished article.

Our set up is so lob sided too, we are easy to defend against; defend whatever side Jones is on and ignore the other one. Vincenti and DKE thus far have offered little offensively. I’ve been saying since game one, with two pacey and/or creative wingers you’d walk this league. Defenders at any level hate pace or trickery, never mind L2. Just look at Jones this season compared to last.

To be fair to MR losing Andreu was obviously a massive blow as he is/was the only “footballer” we have in the squad, so I imagine he would have been pivotal to our attacking play. Even so, he should have a plan b, as we have zero creativity in midfield.

Willis is another frustration this season; he should be the best CB in L2 by a country mile based on the levels he’s played at and the reported interest in him from the Championship, but he’s looked average all season.

All of the above is with the caveat of; we are still on form for the play offs and we do have a solid defence, so I am not suggesting we are useless etc, but in my eyes it’s clear that with a few tweaks we could be both playing better football and getting better results.

Not much higher no. Luton have 13 different goalscorers in the league this season and 11 players with assists. We have 7 scorers and 6 with assists. They are dangerous all over the pitch and we are dangerous whenever Jodi Jones doesn't have 2 men on him. Unless James Collins can make goals from himself or belt them in from 30 yards I don't think he'd turn this team from play off contenders to automatics.

At the end of the game, the drummer (or one of his pals) from block 14, had a go at Jones then started on another bloke who questioned him on it. Some of our fans can be right arseholes at times.

I'm struggling to see who has higher budget than us in this league.....Mansfield/Luton maybe but maybe not? Think we have top 3 budget in this league in all probability
certainly a bigger budget than Accrington who we have just lost to and are now higher in the league than us.....

Didn’t TF say top 7 either him or MR did.
Would say Swindon will probably have a decent budget.
Notts county will have a decent budget, possibly Colchester and chesterfield will have stronger budgets. We don’t really know.

You have to admit also, it was a very well worked goal from them. Lovely play, flicks and a decent finish. They unlocked our defence, we couldn't return the favour.

I am really hating this continual slagging off of our player by our own fans. Might be beer fuelled but still no excuse

That was an excellent goal. We'd be drooling all over that if it was us.

I was embarrassed to be a ccfc fan yesterday...not the team; we were out thought and out played by the better team on the day. I was embarrassedn by some of our fans. The moron who threw a bottle of beer on the pitch. The drunks who were abusive to Accrington stewards and fans as well as to fellow cov fans. But mostly I was embarrassed by the guy who for the whole second half did nothing than shout abuse at their keeper. Not banter but abuse calling him a ‘peado’ every 5 seconds. Not once did he encourage the team, not once focus on the game but for 45mins + just a string of abuse. Boring and boorish.

The guy who threw the beer was a right pillock. Stood at the front constantly arguing with the stewards. The people smoking in there saying there's no signs so stewards can fuck off. The drunk guy on his own just rambling out loud to himself about how it's all the fault of sisu that Jordan Willis put the ball out of the stadium 3 times when under no pressure at all. I brought two non cov fans with me, i had to apologise for how moronic the people around me were

He was an arsehole was going to go over but a guy with his 8 year old said don't because he didn't want his son seeing people fight. Don't think he will be taking his son again

I did not encounter this myself fortunately but do not doubt you are telling us what you saw/heard. I did see the bottle thrown. I did notice a lot of people just drinking during the game behind the stand with no interest in the game.Lots of critical fans of players around me. I have not been to many games in recent years but the away games I have been too have had fans that I would rather not hang around with. Swindon was an exception which all seemed a good bunch and got behind the team.
