It's still early days, many will continue to follow the league entity while they relate to the players, but for how long? Are you confident the 7000 will still be happy to back a team they rarely see in a year's time? 2 year's time? I agree it is probably too early for most but 'what is ccfc' is not an open and shut question that you make it out to be, there has to be a hypothetical cut-off point where a majority say enough is enough
So you expect me to just turn off my support instantly?
You know as well as I do that being a football fan isn't like that.
Finances aside there is no reason Ricoh couldn't be used at that level. Of course, you can't just put finances aside and ACL would price themselves well out of a club at that level that could charge at most a couple of quid a ticket. Would need to fill it every game and even that may not be enough to make it viable.
Any new club would need to negotiate to use the Butts realistically until they could build a stadium or afford the Ricoh.
But if they offered a new club the use for free whilst it gets on it's feet? After all they have offered it for free to SISU for the rest of this season.
Would also be a good way for everyone to stick two fingers up to Joy. Unless she ever gets round to building a ground somewhere.
I think we are fast getting to the point where the council are going to have to let an AFC Coventry play at the Ricoh for free in order to at least give the city back some football.
I now think this would make some sense. If Sisu see reason then at it could just become a B side in the long term. But the longer we leave it the sooner we risk seeing all support evaporate
The match costs would come down to an extent with a lower gate, but yeah apart from maybe a one off game or two it's not worth it.
I'd be interested in where the players come from as well. Would a proper team attract anyone connected to Cov, ex players or academy kids? Or would you start with a bunch of randoms? You'd need to pretty much guarantee promotion in the first season or two at most.
Fees are proportional to crowds.. and clearly the deal to play there for the ladies team is essentially minimal costs. I think a deal could be delivered that was appropriate to circumstances.

The longer this debacle goes on the more people will realise this is a hostage situation pure & simple.
I could never support any other team; if the current ccfc die that's it for me. No new club is the same as Coventry and will never be the team that in my first game beat Villa in November '99.
Why are people talking about this anyway? We ain't dead, not yet anyway.
