Despite being handed the worst budget for any manager since relegation:

1) He has brought 3 youth players into the first time and managed them well, and got performances from them.

2) The players work for him

3) He actually IS 'gutted' when we lose.

I don't think Coleman, Adams, Dowie or Bothroyd could claim to cover all those 3 points.

Adams : Pig-headed, unattractive football, players fell out with him
Dowie : Great guy, motivator, woefully inept tactically, soft?
Coleman : Was his heart in it? Negative football, Talked a lot of crap!!

I think Coleman was too soft and not enough of a motivator, but I do think he cared. Otherwise, agreed with all you say.

That's 3 consecutive fantastic home wins in the league where we've played cracking football; not many managers would be able to drag that out of a side bottom of the league, and a squad on its last legs, but at no time have heads dropped, and we've shrugged off the loss of a gem like Lukas as if he'd never been there. Brilliant stuff-we might just have a chance yet, what's six points?

I have wanted him out, but admit he's done the best with what he has and got in two very good players. He has been dealt a shit hand, but has done his best...and he does care.

He is doing the best he can do.

Whether that is good enough is still open to question, as is as to whether anyone can do any better or not.

All the reservations that the sensible people doubting Thorn had are still there, and none of those people would be actually hoping for him to fail or be somehow disappointed if he does pull off 21st or above.

Clowns likes BANTAM though, whatever shuts them up makes me very happy.

So AT brought SISU to our club then?

No and nor did Coleman or boothroyd but no-one would apply the blameless tag to them either.

Sensible view. No one wants him to fail and lose. We all hope we stay up. Some just think a better manager would already have more points on the board.

I guess the more interesting question is would supporters rather sisu stay and we survive or we go down and they leave.

That is an interesting question Kduffy,
I would have to say relegation & Sisu leave for me.
I know that sounds negative but I honestly think even if we stay up this season, then our team will be weaker again next season if they are still here.

They had money to spend as you well know. AT has his best players sold and has had to bring the youth players in to fill on some of the gaps. Not only has he lost his best players but also has the smallest squad by far. Level playing field for them all?

So why do you hate AT so much that you are so blind to the truth?

I hate no one. Managers come and go and none really stay long to have any long term empathy. Survival is all that matters and I think experienced managers are more likely to succeed. Hatred or any other emotion is irrelevant any manager is ultimately expendable if they fail.

Buck rests with manager, for better or for worse. Playing devils advocate, sisu have just sanctioned 2 players who the fans are practically shooting their loads over....tricky one

Relegation and Sisu leave if someone with lots of money takes us over.

He has not failed. He has had a massive lack of resources though. You expect him to do at least as good as managers that have had help from the board. He has held the squad together so far this season whatever SISU has done to him. He has brought young players in. He has had to play players no other teams have wanted to sign, otherwise they would have been sold. Does this say we have good players left?

Let's see how we do now we have a proper striker. Maybe only on loan, but this is not the fault of AT. Now our team can push forward more, knowing goals will come. Sheffers will get goals as well now. The midfield will be able to push forward more. To me it looks as though we will win a game big soon.

A more experienced manager like whom? Paul Jewell? He his resources at his disposal the like of which Thorn can only dream of and is doing little better.

You need to better think through your argument; or simply admit that you're determined to never see good in anything Thorn manages

I'll see good if we survive. How many managers can you name who walk into a job 10 years after retiring and make a success of it? I can think of one.

I don't think you can tell someone to think of a better argument when your counter to it is bringing up a manager nobody else even mentioned.

I raised him as an experienced manager in charge of a club in the same position in the league as us? I think that's therefore a pertinent enough parallel to draw, dont you?

He merely said experienced manager, you then chose one that suited your intention to show him as wrong so no.

Thorn aint a bad manager and if given some backing we would be a good side at this level.

I dread to think how many points we would have with this squad with coleman or boothroyd in charge, it woud certainly be a lot less than we are on currently.

I don't think Dowie really had much of a budget in all honesty-in fact, I'm pretty sure we didn't spend any money under him; also was abruptly pushed aside by Ranson over 'disagreements on club strategy', so don't judge the guy too harshly.
