Imagine the likes of Joe Cole and James Haskell backing a campaign – what a powerful tool that would be.
He's right though.
I think 25 plus week in week out is a little keen, even if we were in the prem. Yes maybe for the bigger games, but not every week. Part of it is also down to the design of any new stadium. At the ricoh it will never reach full capacity due to the crowd segregation.he has a point. we got 17k in league one. if promoted wed hit 20 again some games. and prem would be 25 plus week in week out
its a shame buying ricoh will never happen now. i would prefer a long term rent deal at ricoh where we can get 70% of food and drink sales etc on top of a reasonable rent per year
argh if we got promoted this year i bet there would be more willingness amongst all parties to get things done, i dunno maybe thats silly but i think a lil success could help matters.
the Ricoh Arena – like it or loathe it – is the club’s home, purpose built (contrary to what one misguided councillor contends) for the football club. It’s an impressive stadium, admired and envied by clubs throughout the land, including some in the Premier League.
It’s set up for top-flight football and the day we, as fans, all dream will one day become a reality again. It’s a pretty ambitious, some would say near impossible, dream as we stand at the minute but, nevertheless, it’s what keeps us going, the thought that one day ‘we’ll be back!’
The walls are built with bricks bought by us and named after our dads, lads, mums, daughters; our late loved ones are scattered there along with our Jimmy whose statue stands proudly at the front entrance, welcoming all visitors – whether to a match, a concert or conference – and reminding them of the rich history of this wonderful football club and city.
Maton is a self serving arse-licker who should not have any position of responsibility whatsoever.Mutton responded to Andy in typical fashion at the bottom of the article.. :vomit:

Interesting to look at the CT headlines:
'A load of rubbish, it will never happen'
'Planned new Coventry City stadium not big enough' - fans' group urges Sky Blues owners to secure long-term deal at Ricoh Arena
Council official says attempt to block football at Butts Park Arena was only a fishing exercise
Coventry City ground share plan shows Coventry RFC's ambition
Coventry football and rugby fans divided on Butts Park Arena ground share plans
Coventry council leader wants Sisu legal action to stop before considering Butts Park ground share
back in highfield road days i think fans took prem for granted and it also wasnt as big a brand as it is today
i think for those 2 reasons alone we would hit 25 easy for a first season back anyway

But why should wasps get round a table and do us a favour? They own the Ricoh, they have access to all the revenues and they have their own club to rubI don't disagree with the bit about having all parties round the table and basically banging the heads together.
I don't really agree with the bit about the Ricoh being our home etc now or the bit about the proud sporting city and Wasps though.
as I said yesterday CCFC could invest anywhere to generate £££ for club. Including student accommodation
Until the prices go up and people go crazy and refuse to go because they can watch it on Sky.
Maton is now saying:
"Wasps are not a charity but, surely, a conciliatory charm offensive by the Sky Blues would go a long way to bringing about some sort of compromise on match day revenue whereby City could get significantly more than their current 15 per cent of food and drink takings, and share of car parking income on game days."
What a load of bollocks, the only thing that will get significantly more revenue from wasps, is £££££.

Maybe this is the interest they wanted to protect...Couldnt tell you but looking at CRFCs attendances would probably suggest there is not a sustainable demand for Rugby in the city, I think people that go currently are more Warwickshire country folk.
I know little about the politics of rugby but from what I understand there is more politics involved than in football, salary caps, only being allowed to play for your country if you ply your trade there etc.
All novelties see a boom at the begininning, its just standard product life cycle, the question will come if it has the longevity to stick in the city for 10, 15, 20 years. I personally believe the Ricoh will be in standing in Coventry longer than Wasps will, either way they are volatile and this has to be a huge risk for CCC.
I think they have to stay within a player wage cap of c£5.5m but can sign 2 players outside of the wage cap.Pretty sure Wasps just signed an Aussie player for over £1M a season, and he just suffered a bad injury. Couple that with Danny Cipriani, James Haskell, etc and their wage bill must be huge. Will be interesting to see their accounts, if they're ever released.

From a rugby perspective, it's what makes the Wasps move so frustrating. Wouldn't have taken *that* much (relatively speaking) to bump CRFC up to that level.Saying that though, the money in rugby union is dwarfed by that in football, and if we ever got to the PL our revenue would piss all over theirs.
Wasn't there claims that the salary cap was being ignored and the RFU wasn't taking action?A lot of the Saints fan in Northampton are saying that Wasps are pushing to have the salary cap abolished completely.
I am not a Wasps fan but some of this Butts talk is in the realms of romantic fiction. To develop that site and not probably to our requirements; well the deal they wouldn't do for the Ricoh would have been cheaper.I don't disagree with the bit about having all parties round the table and basically banging the heads together.
