My worry is that the players will start to think similarly and will sleep walk into a relegation battle
I wouldn't be surprised is some of these players have no idea what are league position is.

Honestly think people have forgotten how bad things were not that long ago.
As disappointing as this seasons been it doesn't come close to some of the shite we've endured.
54 ponts has seen sides relegated from the championship as well44/45 points usually keeps you up
I know what you mean, but I'm a glass half full kind of guy and see this as a demonstration we are a settled Championship club, no real worries of relegation and if we'd been more ruthless getting goals and executing game plans this team could be up there. That along with potential for FL to attract a player or 3 to add some magic and things should get much better, either this season, or next. But it's a better postion at a higher level then we've had for years (just no wembley days out ).This season is going to be a non-event, we’ll pick the odd win up here and there and for me plod around anywhere between 13th and 18th - We were hoodwinked into thinking this was a side ready to challenge in the summer, for whatever reason it hasn’t materialised
Just looking forward to it being over tbh, as long as we don’t end up getting sucked into a relegation battle I’m happy to let Lampard plod along to the summer, work out who he wants to keep and experiment and let him put his own stamp on the club
Damp squib of a season and tbf with the rollercoaster of the last few years we were probably due one
It's the hope that kills you!I get the point though. We've definitely had worse seasons but we've rarely had such disappointing ones.
When we were relegated from L1 you knew it was a shitshow with nobody signing and the manager running away after a few games. This year we were talked about as challenging for autos and we've just not turned up.
That's Football! It's the hope that kills you!
Not in the last few seasons, just like in the PL once were teams aimed for 40 points now 32-36 points keep you up usually.54 ponts has seen sides relegated from the championship as well
Birmingham got relegated on 50 last season, Huddersfield with 45Not in the last few seasons, just like in the PL once were teams aimed for 40 points now 32-36 points keep you up usually.
It did but we were poor upfront.Westwood too. Damn that team underachieved too
Birmingham had 46 points at the end of the season.Birmingham got relegated on 50 last season, Huddersfield with 45
It was 50Birmingham had 46 points at the end of the season.
My mistake I was looking at games rather than points. Probably an exception, but if we need another 21 points, we've got a battle on our hands. Especially as we have to be play Burnley, Shef Utd, Sunderland and co and we have Boro in our last game of the season.Birmingham had 46 points at the end of the season.
You are correctIt was 50
At the moment our tempo is so slow, ponderous and predictable. I've seen people on Zimmer frames move quicker than most of our players.Hopefully lower this year, but no guarantees
I wouldn't be surprised is some of these players have no idea what are league position is.
Mifsud and Best was it? They were both streaky but I'd take both of those in the current squad too tbf.It did but we were poor upfront.
I was thinking more of Eastwood and Morrison.Mifsud and Best was it? They were both streaky but I'd take both of those in the current squad too tbf.
If Mifsud was managed better he'd have been class.
Edit: not sure why Clints post is also quoted.
Ah yeh fair, I get his teams muddled up too but it was Best and Mifsud playing final day at Charlton (I had to check.)I was thinking more of Eastwood and Morrison.
That was the season Dowie was sacked and Coleman brought in. It was the following season that we started to spend more. In hindsight, we’d have probably been better off going down!Ah yeh fair, I get his teams muddled up too but it was Best and Mifsud playing final day at Charlton (I had to check.)
Schmeichel rather than Westwood too so BSBs point about taking the keeper still stands I suppose.
Funny to see Leicester go down though i suppose. That was the season Dowie was sacked and Coleman brought in. It was the following season that we started to spend more. In hindsight, we’d have probably been better off going down!
I was optimistic but this is another rebuild now. I’m surprised by the decline of key players, team players and our apparent change in style of football. Doug et al made no improvements overall. This season is going to be a non-event, we’ll pick the odd win up here and there and for me plod around anywhere between 13th and 18th - We were hoodwinked into thinking this was a side ready to challenge in the summer, for whatever reason it hasn’t materialised

We did well to money for Palmer. He just wasn’t good enough.I was optimistic but this is another rebuild now. I’m surprised by the decline of key players, team players and our apparent change in style of football. Doug et al made no improvements overall.
We lost players we didn’t realise we needed. Palmer.
I’m hoping Lampard can sort this team out but don’t want to see flat possession football.
time for Sheaf to move on. Dasilva, Tavares, cash in on MVE. Kitching can go. Thomas needs confidence. Simms needs more games. Collins has to find another club.
The outlook maybe more palatable when Wright and EMC are back.
Definitely. Though Wright's probably going to need a few games to get going again.
When Mark Robins was in charge there were plenty of wet beds.Since he's left they seem to have increased 10 fold. What is up with you all? When he left we had 15 points from 14 games.Since than 1 less from 11.We are heading in the right direction, games might not be great to watch but that will change when confidence returns. There are still 63 point to play for.IMHO we will finish top half.
It’s understandably very hard to get excited by ‘yeah these games mean nothing this season but we *might* be better next season’ though tbf.I get the sentiment of the thread but even if playoffs are out of reach the rest of this season is still pretty important.
Putting a run together and finishing top 10 would give us a much better platform for next season than sleepwalking into 16th.
I felt like it after about 5 games. I could tell we weren't the team we were supposed to have been.
Obviously as said above, in the context of the past its not the worst by a long shot but it's so so disappointing.
Honestly guys, l can't agree with these takes at all. Deciding after 5 games we 'weren't where we were supposed to have been'? Up until Portsmouth only Leeds had shown us up. We were in every game and creating chances. We didn't lose by more than a 1 goal margin and in terms of performance should have been right up there if we'd just seen games out/tightened up at the back.In the context of the past it’s a Chris Coleman season but with more spent on the team and worse football.
What i decided after 5 games was correct though, we're not half the team that we should have been. Its just been a drab, disappointing season. That's my take but it's ok to disagree.Honestly guys, l can't agree with these takes at all. Deciding after 5 games we 'weren't where we were supposed to have been'? As for spent more and worse football than the Coleman era - are you mad? We don't like to admit it now but SISU spent decent money when they came in and that on a squad that already had some big money signings and former PL players. Yes players cost more nowadays but we built an entire squad from scratch last season off what we brought in from 2 players.
In 07/08 Fox, Westwood, Dann, Gunnarson etc were added to a team with Hughes, Doyle, Ward, Best, Mifsud etc... and the football was awful! We were damned lucky not to get relegated 07/08 capitulating 4-1 to Charlton on the final day and finishing 21st (One of my lowest moments supporting CCFC). We followed that up with some tedious defensive displays and ground our way to a mighty 17th and then 19th in the following 2 seasons. There wasn't a single moment in that period I thought we were troubling mid table let alone play offs.
We got into the play-offs or just outside them after winning 1-0 away at Peterborough during Coleman’s 3rd season- obviously we didn’t win again for the rest of it.Honestly guys, l can't agree with these takes at all.
