We're not talking about every time he plays, though. Might be showing your bias here. In the 45 mins he had, he showed more guts than most.

As I say most on here agree it’s you whose biased and support my view

He looked good going forwards. Skilful and direct which we were crying out for. But defensively he was dire. Literally bottling 70/30s in his favour. If we ever tried three up front he’d probably be decent on the left of the three.

Was an absolute shocker today. They scored with their first attack and never looked back. None of our players came out with any credit, but I haven't got the heart to go through listing them all with 3's and 4's. At the moment it feels like that is season over, but if MR can somehow galvanize the team into a positive reaction next week, then it may just turn out into that odd kind of blip performance and result that happens every season (remember Rotherham in our League 1 winning season), although as I write that it does feel like a case of heart overruling head!

I would rate Sheaf a bit higher but the first half was just so uniformly terrible I think it caps anyone who started at 5/10. Most concerning is that McF has been hauled off at half time twice since he came back from injury.

He was one of the better ones in the second half, but probably one of the worst in the first. He was completely hiding, and him and Eccles might as well have not been on the pitch.

I'm struggling to think of any player that gets credit today. McNally was dreadful and Dabo once again looked like he had won a competition to play.

It's alright to play your best and maybe get a bit unlucky, but we were shockingly bad today. I can barely think of the right words to describe it, but it was as if we didn't turn up.

Yeah i think the first time was down to a change in shape (think we moved to a back 4 where i presume he's considered too slow) but this seemed more about his performance than anything else which is a worry. There was alpt of frustration on show from the players but nobody seemd to be pulling players up for screwing up and i felt we lacked leadership. Maybe everyone being so shit meant they felt they couldn't be critical 🤣

Every time he plays he has a first 15 when he has some positive movement. He’s then easily snuffed out. Off the ball he’s utterly clueless - there’s zero attention or discipline. It’s like he just goes asleep
tbf to him it's more he's not our's, isn't it? He shows good attacking intent, has some pace and good technical ability. When McCallum first came in he was pretty diabolical defensively, and at a lower level than us now. Difference was we got the benefit the following season.

If you can explain how offering an opinion on a player's performance across 45 mins constitutes "bias", cool. Otherwise, will not read.

You supporting your opinion by saying "Look, people agree with me!" when you go to great lengths to be a contrarian is a solid LOL.

Ratings on here are always (understandably) skewed by the result, with everyone upgraded or downgraded by at least two marks according to the outcome. We were well beaten in virtually every department today, so nobody deserves great scores, but I’ll put what I think Is realistic. 3’s and 4’s all round really isn’t necessary IMHO. Most of the team scoring 5’s and 6’s is enough to explain the bad defeat, especially when the Stoke guys were all worth 7’s and 8’s.

Wilson 6 Not massively at fault for any of the goals, couple of good saves, but got into a flap a few times
Dabo 5 Defensively suspect. Sometimes looks a threat, but the threat never turns into end product does it?
McFadzean 5 Made to look poor by a good Stoke side
Doyle 6 Not good for the last goal, otherwise not too much to point the finger at?
McNally 5 Awful first few minutes, again Stoke made him look poor
Bidwell 5 Not much of a contribution
Hamer 6 A big drop from recent performances
Eccles 6 The first half midfield shape didn’t work at all, but he wasn’t worse than the others
Sheaf 7 Also suffered in the first half shape, with no AM to pass to. Very good in the 2nd half I think.
Gyokeres 5 One good shot, far too much running into blind alleys
Godden 4 Based on this season, he’s only worth a squad place at this level as a second string alternative

Subs
JWE 5 Very nice with the ball (one-footed though). Defensively weak, at least today.
Walker 5 Slightly better than Godden today, but again not a first choice in this league
Howley 4 Only 19 so time to develop, but looks one-paced and slow thinking at this stage. Only injuries to other AMs have let him in*
Rose 6 Suffered like the other CBs because Stoke played so well
BNC 5 Nothing much to say

* Surely Maguire could have done more?

You accused me of bias. He’s a very poor loan and oriole pick at scraps - sorry he’s really poor

How have you given Dabo 2x McNallys score he was absolute garbage both in defence and going forward. Not saying McNally was good, his worst game for us without doubt but a one off. Dabo’s good games are a one off

I'm basing on today's game only. McNallys was one of the worst individual performances I've seen in sky blue. Dabo was poor, but had the occasional good moment.

Let 4 in and flapped a couple of crosses. Some decent distribution though.

Dabo 5

His cross field balls were atrocious and nearly always cut out and turned over. A lot of their good opportunities were created down his side at us expense. It seems they saw him as a weak link. Got forward a couple of times and missed a good chance where he really needed to at least make their gk work. Bad day.

McNally 4

Don’t know who or how he was meant to be marking in that game - by the looks of things neither did he. Let’s hope it’s just a bad day at the office.

Fadz 4

Gawd knows

Doyle 5

Best of the bad bunch

Bidwell 5

Not sure if I missed any absolute howlers. Struggled.

Eccles 4

Ineffective today

Sheaf 6

Poor by his standard but drove forward and made some tidy passes. Also some bad ones.

Hamer 6

By his standards a 4, but still some great break ups and attacking intent

Gyok 5

Tried too hard. Seemed desperate to try to get something to happen and overplayed on occasion as a result.

Godden 4

Had some good chances and made some great impressions of a broken starfish when trying to attack high balls in the box. Looked L1 or L2 today. Aside from finishing offers only limited play.

Subs

JWE was best of bunch. I can see him sitting left forward side of a pentagon set up - getting forward and switching with the LWB. BNC on other side switching with the RWB.

Others? Walker - more swag than Godden. Howley not ready.

Just a case of bad set up due to lack of options.

It would make me feel better if they all did the decent thing and donated their weeks wages to a local charity.

Agree apart from the Stoke bit thought they were bang average we made them look good

Stoke just seemed to want it more.

Which considering they have nothing to play for this season, and we’re playing to get into the greatest league in the world is concerning.

You have to question the 2 'wing backs' for a team supposedly chasing promotion who were brought in on loan and also the inclusion of Godden who looks to be finished in this league, Walker had a good game last time out so out he goes once again for a player who is struggling to make any impression on any game!! fucking garbage springs to mind. Eccles was utter rubbish as was Howley who replaced him, Hamer got a booking for bringing one of their players down and as we have seen in most of his time here that virtually rules him out of the game, Vik looked knackered with his continual playing time and the rest of them looked as though they thought it was 3 weeks they had off instead of 2 !

You’re seeing a ‘squad’ that has been neglected for at least 3 consecutive transfer windows.

Thought I’d share these ratings as they made me giggle:

Some of the pass completion stats are startling:

McNally 55%
Bidwell 60%
Godden 47%

The fact that Dabo shows for the ball more means he gets it more and then mostly looks like a headless chicken.
We really need our midfielders to turn on the ball and look both sides.
To be fair though Stoke pressed so quickly no one seem to have any time on the ball.

Showed for the ball? Blimey. Bloke didn’t move for large parts of our attacking play. In that system you *need* the wing back to make the run outside.

We needed more in midfield full stop but didn’t have anyone else to play there. Against crap like Blackpool and Huddersfield you can get away with that but against sides decent on the ball we end up overrun.

Will be the same against Swansea unless Allen is fit

I have t ask there’s a lot on here given Ben Wilson 4 a number of players on 5 one point higher, now I’m not saying he was anywhere near an 8 or 9 but for him we would have gone in 4-0 down, he was playing behind a woeful defence he had to come for all sorts of situations the defenders should have sorted was he mom probably a 6 out of 10 so yes in my opinion.

Thinking about it on that basis 4 does seem a bit harsh but he did still ship 4 goals. Perhaps up him to a 5.
