The level IS good. Shame that some people won't even watch it to see just how good it is (obviously nothing like the level of the men's game)That's fair enough, tonight's game was a really good level though. If people don't want to watch women's football that's fine, but they don't need to slag it off either (not accusing you of that).
Michaela Bassett?wasn't there an 80s show about a female manager?
I‘ve not watched any of these Euros anymore than I would’ve watched a league 2 playoff semifinal - for me,the standard’s just awful & I find womens football just dull

A number of Spanish players tonight were just as technically good as their counterparts in Spanish men's side for the most part.
As has been said many times, where it falls down is with the keepers. They are just not up to standard.
I think you'd have been surprised and would have enjoyed tonights game, it has been brilliant. Will you watch if England make the final?
If you've not watched it what makes you qualified to make a judgement on it?
Not a chance - I hate the England mens team so there’s not a hope in hell that I’d watch the womens team in the final too

Hate? Is it something about Marks and Spencer suits?
As good as they can be technically, let’s really not kid ourselves. The tempo is absolutely nowhere near the mens game. England women would struggle to get out of League Two - which may still be pretty generous.
Nope but I’m perfectly entitled to hate the England team as much as I like ta
I think the key here is "in the past." The women's game has come on leaps and bounds these past few years.Because I’ve seen womens football in the past which was enough to put me off watching it ever again….even it is just to score virtual brownie points on a football forum
i watched both fgr league games and still ended watching more city gamesI think the key here is "in the past." The women's game has come on leaps and bounds these past few years.
It’s fair to point out physical differences which mean you’re unlikely to see women competing directly with men at the top level of a sport like football (just as you wouldn’t expect a woman to run in the men’s 100 metres final). The women's game is completely different. The same way that Sunday league is different to the Premier League. I don't refuse to watch women's matches, and in the same way as Sunday league, I'm not going to actively watch the game or become invested in it because the quality is sub par. And that's not going to change. The difference in technical ability and the physical differences between men and women aren't going to suddenly evaporate.
England women would probably lose to England schoolboys. There’s been a few examples of elite women’s team getting beat by teenage boys.
I don’t mean to be disparaging because the growth of the woman's game is good. There’s a reason the sexes don’t compete together and it’s not because of sexism.
You understand this was 5 years ago right...

Well that's the thing. It's come on so far in such a short space of time, the women's game, and I think people should revisit and give it another look.Glad to see a few more open minded individuals in this thread. Fortunately everyone else's relevance will continue to drop generation by generation.

physically it’s not there but technically it’s improved. Like I said earlier I went to the Olympic game and it’s moved forward.Has there been a change in human biology the last five years?
No true. I was excited for the game last night. It wasn't the same level as if it was the men though. Part of that is the obvious fact that the men's European Championships and World Cups are much more high profile than the women's equivalents.physically it’s not there but technically it’s improved. I want the women to win, I just can’t find myself building myself up for a game like I would for the mens team.
Don’t get me wrong, I really want them to win, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the standard in recent times. No true. I was excited for the game last night. I will definitely be very excited though should the England women get to the final here.
They haven't lost for 18 games.Don’t get me wrong, I really want them to win, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the standard in recent times.
I suppose you’re right in terms of profile, although one thing that annoys me there isn’t the same level of scrutiny when they lose as the men do. We’re kind of expected to buy the hype when they’re winning but keep quiet when they lose.
I don’t mean under Wiegman, I’m talking when they’ve recently lost in tournaments. They were 2nd favourites to win the euro 2017, got smashed by Netherlands, granted they lost to the US in the last World Cup - but whenever the men get knocked out it’s scrutinised for months. They haven't lost for 18 games.

You’re missing the point by miles.Has there been a change in human biology the last five years?
Yep, the whole 'boys would beat them' argument doesn't make any sense unless you literally just rule out watching all women's sport all together, which in itself is mad. There will be male teenagers who would win the women's 100m final, win tennis grand slams, golf majors, marathons, triathlons etc. Men have a physical advantage. It doesn't mean it's not entertaining to watch elite sportswomen. Last night was a great game of football. Yes it had some errors in it, but there was a lot of very high level technical play, especially from the Spaniards. The right winger especially was very, very good. I think my Dad used to be a little bit of the 'women's game is crap' mentality. I remember asking him if he would be proud if his granddaughter played for the Lionesses and I think it has made him reevaluate as he takes an active interest in it now.Not sure how my comment has been taken as some insult to womens football. I was just saying that boys beat women in most athletic sports. That’s not a value judgement, men have higher athletic potential than women. I hope the womens game flourishes.
