Are we being “hyped”? (2 Viewers)

Potentially the worst season preview I’ve ever seen. Essentially boils down to “the relegated teams and Leeds could get autos, everyone who was around the playoffs last year could get playoffs, the promoted teams and Plymouth could get relegated.”
Probably wrong to mock a prediction before the season has started but... Opta deserves a shout too.

Looking forward to this season and don't recall us being labeled as promotion contenders by so many pundits/polls/bookies/so-called analysts etc. as far as I can recall. So the pressure is on to deliver. I personally prefer being under the radar, but it is what it is. Fingers crossed for a couple more additions to our team (CM, versatile experienced defender), for Hamer and Gyokeres to be sold by Aug 30 and for us to be in the Premier League next season.

Isn’t Rudoni sort of one though? Just because he wasn’t stamped “CAM” on his birth certificate doesn’t mean he can’t play there? He’s got the ability to do that role, the little flicks and turns and runs into the box, I think he’d be great there. (Just for reference I prefer us as a 4-3-3, I’m basically just arguing the toss tbh 😂)
Nice analogy there 🤔😊

There’s serious expectation amongst outsiders we’re going up and also from us this is going to be a good one. It’s still going to be very tough but top 6 finish is expected and then we see….

Genuinely don't see why we can't contend if we start better than we have the last 2 seasons.
For the top 6 absolutely, but we’re missing one in midfield and a couple more in defence to go the full distance in terms of the autos.

I was talking to a Luton fan I know earlier and he fancies us for autos. Personally I fancy Luton for autos. What we both agreed on was not expecting much from Sheffield Utd with the way they came down without much fight. I think Burnley might have a relegation hangover too. I think Leeds, Middlesbrough, Norwich, Sunderland and of course us will be in the mix and there’s bound to be a surprise/didn’t see that coming team up there too.

God I hope we can make the autos, don’t think I can take another round of playoffs.

Id be surprised if Sunderland are up there and for once, I think even their own fans would be.

Sheffield United have made good signings on paper.

Not sure Wilder is good enough.Could be gone quickly with a poor start.

I think they've made stabilising signings, done well in the market they are in but there's nothing exciting there.
In reality they probably only have 2 players arguably above Championship standard in the form of Hamer and Ahmedhodzic. I'm surprised both are still there and not fully convinced they will be by the end of the window. I guess I'll wait and see before I predict their final position as those 2 being there or not would make quite a big difference to that.

That’s fair. I think they’ll do okay but it’s too early to tell. I’m not a massive fan of them, but I feed off of your hatred of them 😂

dont get how we’re being tipped for such a high finish, back 4 struggled last season and it’s still the same ? Must be missing something,

2 20 goal players and the top scorer of a team in the play offs, whilst boasting the best player in league one last season helps.

we’ve also got one of the best midfielders in the league. whilst signing Rudoni who has been seen as someone who is going to go far.

we also pushed Man Utd all the way in th FA Cup and were arguably unlucky not to be in the FA Cup final…

we all know how good we are going forward , back 4 worries me again, like I said it’s the same as last season and that’s where we struggled ? Maybe going for the, we’ll just score more than you approach ?

Nah - first game of the season. Maybe re-assess after 10 games. I’m sure Norwich won’t be melting down either
I think their fans maybe. They’re pretty pessimistic about the new season. As for us, yep, I think we probably have been over-hyped, but early days (obviously), need Sheaf back and let’s see as the season develops.

Last two seasons the poor start could readily be explained by the pitch debacles and the squad overhaul.

Baffling to me how the very encouraging performances of pre-season have led to the crap served up today.

First game of the season notoriously provides little relevance to the season outcome so hopefully the result and performance will be soon forgotten. Lose to Oxford though then I probbly won't be feeling so relaxed about things.

The way we played in pre-season was how I assumed we’d play today. If we can simply go back to that next week then today will be quickly forgotten.

Massively hyped. This is tough division with at least 12 sides with legit claims to be promotion contenders. If you read some other sites, maybe even 18 or so sides think they are in with a shout.

Expectation management is really important. Assume we are top ten, hope for top eight and celebrate if we squeeze into top six
