The timeline it's over he's been the best player based on almost every metric, in a poor Barca team. Won Copa America as Pott was la Liga top scorer again and has the highest g/a of anyone in the world, who do you suggest should have took it over him?

If for nothing else the Copa America would win him it. Always been the accusation that he hadn't done much (relatively) on the international scene, and he's answered that.

Even that accusation was bollocks. He carried Argentina to a World Cup final.
Exactly a huge achievement which is always overlooked, dragged them through very tough qualifying a few times as well

He was good in the group stage against Nigeria, Bosnia and Iran , went missing mostly from that point on .. I think he got 1 assist in the 4 other games if I remember
Messi won the ADIDAS award at the tournament, who also sponsored him at the time

He was superb, my point is that Messi won FIFA player of the tournament and made the world cup final and people still throw shit at him for not performing in that world cup. Portugal were knocked out in the group but nobody mentions that when they talk about Ronaldos international accomplishments

Which defenders do you think had better seasons than Messi or Ronaldo in any of their wins? There’s a reason attackers get paid the most as well, goals win games.
Van Dijk came close and was a deserved second.

Again it's just a sign of how superhuman cr7 and Messi have been. Ronaldo scored 60 goals that year and won the champions League hard not to give it him

World Cup is worth more than the champions league too .
So he got it for goals..
Then if that's the case , lewandowski should have won it , he scored 54 goals which again is superhuman .. copa America is akin to the nations league at best as none of the best South American sides touch the best in Europe anymore
