Just using this thread to make a general point about goalkeepers under Robins. Boddy described MR as 'a good judge of a player' - but does this apply to goalkeepers where it has been a bit of a car crash
He inherited Burge and since then has acquired
O'Brien (remember him?)
Marosi
Wilson (originally specifically as a number 2)
Moore
Collins
Dovin
So we have gone through 7 keepers in 7 and a bit seasons. That is a high turnover in what is normally one of the most stable positions. The rise thro the divisions offers only a partial explanation.
There have been only two seasons where there was complete confidence in the keeper
Marosi in League 1 although he was not up to the next tier
Wilson in the Play Off season - but he was behind probably the best back 3 we have had this century - McNally, McFadz and Doyle.
Moore and Collins started well enough but their performance fell away. And so it may be with Dovin altho it is early days.
I have no conclusion, it is just that we appear to be repeat offenders when it comes to keepers
Because he keeps chopping and changing them.Just using this thread to make a general point about goalkeepers under Robins. Boddy described MR as 'a good judge of a player' - but does this apply to goalkeepers where it has been a bit of a car crash

Obviously that looks shite, but can you do one for 22/23 or 24/25?
I think he would have been told when he came that he's young, developing and possibly will be in and out of the side but will get his opportunities in season 1 with the intention to be confirmed starter for next season. He will learn a lot being round a few older heads as he is incredibly young for a keeper. Clearly talented, but I think we're managing him right. It would be worse to keep him in with fragile confidence, lose a few more and then the crowd be on his back.If it's true that Dovin is one of our highest earners, it's all a bit strange. I guess there's the argument that he's one of the future, but he's hardly going to be happy to be a number 2 and will be pushing for a move next summer, IMO, if that continues to be the case.

Not enough games played in 24/25 to produce one of these yet. But in the two league games he's conceded 3 goals from 1.9 PSxG which isn't very good. Obviously small sample size though.
think robins has done the right thing with dovin, he’s only a kid playing in a side that was struggling, few more losses and his confidence could of been shot, reckon robins thinks Wilson can take the flack if we’re struggling and fair play to him he‘s taken his chance, don‘t get the stick he gets decent keeper, you don’t win a golden glove just because you’ve got a good defence, play off season burnley, luton and sheff utd conceded less than us,based on that one of their keepers should of got it ?I think he would have been told when he came that he's young, developing and possibly will be in and out of the side but will get his opportunities in season 1 with the intention to be confirmed starter for next season. Last season I liked Collins when he came in, there was a spell before the United game when he was dreadful for 5 or 6 on the bounce and should've come out of the team. I thought he'd get Wembley, which was fair not to miss out on that and then Wilson would get the last few games of the season. when he didn't I assumed the writing on the wall for Wilson to go, but Collins if anything got worse. That was more damaging for him and I think if he came out when he should have, he might have been the back up now.
No defence but he was injured and should have been off for me!He dithered coming out for the winner as well and made it easier for them to score.
I’m sure I heard Clive or Oggy mention that as well.No defence but he was injured and should have been off for me!
He definitely was left knee or calf or ankle, beggars belief really!I’m sure I heard Clive or Oggy mention that as well.
Yep-near post and looks like his balance was all wrong. Never mind that-who is this gorm on YouTube thinking he’s some professional pundit whose opinion we are interested in?
Just seen this angle from behind the goal. What is he doing?
Second goal isn’t Wilson’s faultCan't see why people ate trying to pin it on Wilson, Kitching gave the first one away and you have to admit the forward didn't half smash it, the second one Sheaf gave the ball away and there were numerous players of ours who could of took their player out, but unfortunately they didn't and it ended up at the feet of someone who shouldn't of been on the pitch
But I don't think you can blame him for yesterday, we were awful all over the parkSecond goal isn’t Wilson’s fault
I just don’t think he’s good enough, he’s a decent enough shot stopper but his distribution is particularly poor
No I’m not, no blame attached to him.But I don't think you can blame him for yesterday, we were awful all over the park
Make it make sense! No I’m not, no blame attached to him.
I’m saying in general he’s not good enough I don’t think
Kitching didn’t do great but he’s not solely responsible. Watch it back, our shape is terrible and we were in trouble as soon as we lost the first header. Wilson could’ve done a lot better on the shot. Can't see why people ate trying to pin it on Wilson, Kitching gave the first one away and you have to admit the forward didn't half smash it, the second one Sheaf gave the ball away and there were numerous players of ours who could of took their player out, but unfortunately they didn't and it ended up at the feet of someone who shouldn't of been on the pitch

He was struggling to stand on it towards the end of the game. Another Sub that Robins should've made but for some reason didn't.No defence but he was injured and should have been off for me!
