A lot of sentiment on this thread regarding certain loanees . Were Ostigard , Doyle and Maatsen really better than Thomas , Kitching and Bidwell?

This is not straightforward is it.
So based on 433.
GK Dovin
RB MVE
LB Maatsen
CB Doyle
CB this one was more tricky Thomas
DM Grimes
CM Hamer
CM Rudoni
RF not that many options therefore Sakamoto
CF Gyokeres
LF Wright

Subs Sheaf, EMC, OHare, Simms, Ostigaard, James, McFadzean, Bidwell, and to be honest any of the keepers

Ostigard was massively overrated
He really wasn't overrated. I said back then I'd sign him in a heartbeat and not at all surprised he's gone on to do well. In fact at the time I'd have probably preferred him to become permanent over Vik if we had the choice. Imo He's Bobby Thoms+passing.

Shows what a terrific model Brighton have. Not only the team they have and the stars they've sold, but those like Gyokeres and Ostigaard too. I always thought Ayari would be a player too, just too soon at the level for us to have been thrust in and could've done with a L1 loan first to get some minutes in.

He’s been loaned to a struggling club in the German top division. Hes made more appearances for us than any other team so far.

Dovin is a huge upgrade on Wilson, Collins and Moore, really really huge. I quite liked Marosi until he got wiped out but other than that it's been an absolute dog of a position for us for God knows how long.

Yeah I always liked Marosi too. He looked okay when we played Shrewsbury in a pre-season at the start of last season as well.

Thought Moore was one of our better keepers too until he had to take time out of the team, and then that seemed to have been it for his career here.
I still would have preferred him to Wilson or Collins earlier on this year though!

I don’t remember him as a great passer of the ball, was a beast in the air though. Definitely the most aerially dominant cb we’ve had since we came back up.

Doesn't mean he was cr&p for us tbf.

Marc McNulty is now, at the age of 32, playing in one of the 2nd tier leagues in Australia. He was great for us.

Your response doesn't really stack up. Ostigard is still a Norwegian international as well.

I don't think he was over-rated for us at all; he was in a team whose remit was to stay in the division. He's also playing at a higher level than any other centre-half we've had in the period, which probably tells you something.

His career trajectory is strange, though; since us, other than Napoli, he's not lasted anywhere more than half a season. Maybe coincidence, maybe not.

He was frustrating at times. His ability on the ball was poor and his heading from memory was borderline comical as the ball would often go in every direction other than the one intended.

Overall he was solid though. Fair play to him he's had a decent career since moving away from Brighton.

Funnily enough the one loan in recent years I thought was grossly overrated was Maatsen. Decent enough, and clearly had a lot of potential, but he flattered to deceive quite often. Again, another one that's had a great career since though.

I still remember when we played Blades back in the play off season at the CBS, Iliman Ndiaye is one of the best players I've ever seen up there
