The Club/Manager can never win with you.

This time last year for example you were going totally mental about Gyo and Matty James being awful additions to the squad during the January transfer window.

Not all signings immediately work out - some never do but rushing to judgment over 3 games is insane.

Oh dear

how is Matty doing at Bristol?

We desperately needed him. Around the time of his signing we were playing a central midfielder at RWB and an attacking midfielder at LWB.

I think everyone was in agreement at the time we desperately needed a LWB and that he was a good signing.

He hasn't impressed so far, though it's very early days, but it was definitely the right thing to sign a LWB in January.

Maatsen missed three games with injury. Let’s not pretend this was some kind of urgent catastrophe.

Regardless of whether he missed 3 games or 30 games we didn't have a back up left wing back.

It was a glaring gap in the squad. The only position we didn't have cover in.

Maybe Robins just wants a LB/LWB on the books?
Wasn't the last one Mason? Been all loans since then, (unless you count Shipley).

Before posh away , would you have put Shipley in as a cover player at LWB ?
Tbh mate as nice as it was he had a couple of decent games, I was really hoping as a club we'd have progressed beyond Shipley by now.

You lie and lie and lie again. Absolutely pathetic.
Maybe go back to your posts last February after the last January transfer window.

What are you on about - you were the idiot who thought the best athlete at the club should have been retained ahead of Gyokeres who I always thought looked a prospect - clueless as ever

Dabo wasn't.

You have a short memory.
He was given dogs abuse during his first few months, the own goals at Oxford, red card at Pompey etc.

But will his position be key in a push for promotion?

Possibly.
Also, again, not really my point though. It would be a fair argument if we'd signed him on a short term deal/loan but the idea is obviously for him to contribute over more than just this season.

Think the Bidwell deal was agreed and signed just before we realised Shipley could play LWB

Shipley can nt play lwb.
He is nowhere near Championship level for any team hoping to be in the top half.
Really think we re in with a shout for top 6 , well 6th anyway. If we have to rely on Shipley tho 😳

That’s an impressive degree of patience.

Personally if we’re going to have to ship out six or seven players just to bring in one guy in January, I think it’s only fair to expect some kind of return from him before August.
We then had the manger call him a “rolls Royce” 🤣

I think the third paragraph was especially evident today. Kane and Bidwell together means our ability to play through the wing backs, and push their full backs deeper is greatly reduced.

Appreciate Kane wasn’t great today but he can offer an attacking threat through this crossing. Not sure what Bidwells “thing” is yet.

But we need the ability of a Dabo or Maatsen to keeps some dynamism and variance for the opposition to think about.
I think what we now have are options.

Kane and Bidwell are probably better natural full backs than Maatsen and Dabo.

Maatsen and Dabo are better wing backs than Kane and Bidwell.

Having the option of switching the play to be more defensive when winning / viceversa were the thoughts behind getting him (Bidwell) in.

So far he’s been played all over the place and hasn’t set the world alight. That doesn’t mean he should be written off, just that he hasn’t set the world alight. Yet. But 300 games or whatever at this level suggests he’s capable.

He’s 29 next month and has been given a 3.5 year deal to take him to 32. I always question the logic of signing experienced championship players (probably on decent money) with little re-sale potential. Waghorn another.

With regards Sheaf, I’ll freely admit that I vented my frustration earlier this season.

I suggested he was a liability due to the number of times he got caught dithering in possession. The number of poor pass choices. I suggested he needed to work on that. For whatever reason, he now loses the ball less, there are one or two occasions but not the catalogue he has earlier. He’s developed and is a better player for it.

does a 6/10 player improve our squad, im not convinced it does.

(Rolls Royce), remind me NEVER to go car shopping with Robins

Bidwell was fine at Reading. He isn't explosive going forward but defensively he's been solid, particularly in stopping any attacks down his side of the pitch. He did put one cracking ball in as well (after he won a tackle nearly on the touchline). In Maatsen's spell there late on in the game, we suddenly looked vulnerable down that side.

Abundantly clear that part of loan agreement is to play Maatsen.

Very detrimental to Bidwell’s development and to the teams shape.

Allen for one offers loads more in that midfield role and Bidwell much more of a defender that Maatsen is.

Loans are great but not when they have a negative impact on the team.

Interestingly listening to the Blackpool coms they were raving about Bidwell calling him a consistent Championship performer.

We have a player-just needs game time.

Would be disappointed if we agreed to that, Maatsen while will no doubt have a good future in the game don’t think he’s among Chelsea’s top talents

Funniest thing is people now slating Kane too saying he isn't a wing back. Think he's got more assists and goals than Dabo in his whole time here?

As I said i think we hve a few players trying to play through injuries! Kane in particular.

Another example of people making judgements on players too soon.

Like fans who are stuck on 4-4-2 and quote how great it was in the 70's. They seem to forget we got battered some weeks - trips to WBA and Everton just scratch the surface.

Oggy has more goals than Dabo for CCFC

People who want 4-4-2 want to play it with out and out wingers. So yes in reality it can become
4-2-4. There is always some fluidity with any formation. We also had fullbacks who were quite attack minded.
