I wouldn't say no to an experienced cb butsomeone who can't get in the boro team isn't the answer
Tbf they have a lot of quality in the back and players that have more of an incentive to be played (younger, more time on contract, etc)

Robins thinks so

As ive stated before Kitching really hasn't hit the heights MR expected of a 4 million quid signing. Doesn't do some of the defensive basics anywhere near as well as he should
I think Kitching was pretty shite all season if I’m honest. Even when people on here were saying he played well, I just don’t see it. Binks the better player with much higher potential imo.

Even with Binks, we still need another CB who has authority. Binks may be seen as an investment as he is young and will improve in quality and value. That suits our club' s remit

Not sure I believe this. Binks has 2 years left on his contract, Bologna value him quite high and they’re not desperate for cash.

Presuming Bidwell, Wilson and Godden leave, and Binks, Stamenic join, and O'Hare stays, looking at the squad it leave us a GK, RB, LB and striker short still as a minimum, but agree with most on here would like to see one more CB as well and then Lati can be used more as generic defensive cover - very handy sub

Then why did Binks only start 15 games?

If you've spent 4 million quid on someone wouldnt you try and give them every chance to improve instead of playing the bloke you're loaning? Kitching regressed, and his fitness isn't the greatest, subbed off a few times

I'm not writing him off he's had some good games, just stating that yes it's all well and good he can pass the ball and play out but when he's 3 yards slower off the mark than the striker that's not what we need

He cost us games either through mistakes or getting sent off. We’ve overpaid for him for sure. Binks is much classier on the ball and has a higher ceiling.

I agree bigtime. Thomas and kitching will be better than last season as would binks for that matter. All 23 and even improving this season I would say.

Shouldn't his fitness be one of his best assets seeing as he spends most of his down time in boxing gyms.

Thought he started off really well but regressed and looked every bit a league one player by the end of the season.

Think Binks will be an excellent acquisition with loads of development potential

I reckon his and Thomas's attributes compliment each other well too
Isn't he on about a zillion £'s a week though or something?

Binks strikes me as quite sensible.

He must know this is critical decision for him.

He isn’t playing for Bologna and he must move to ensure he has a career in football. He’s at the age where he needs to be playing.

I’m not saying he will sign for us, after all we didn’t play him much, but he will know that he can’t spend the next 2 years as a squad player.

He loved his time with us last year. lets see how much he did when it comes to expected wages

Yeah agreed, biggest waste of 4 mil we’ve ever spent. Even at the time I had absolutely no idea why we were madly chasing after him. Probably lost at least 1/2-3/4 of that investment I imagine?

We were all saying that about Simms and Wright and look how they both turned out… give him time. He arrived injured at the start

Maybe it’s what Robins does to get clubs to agree to part with them in the summer. If you remember when we had Vik he didn’t play that much while on loan and didn’t pull up stumps and then we signed him and people were like merhhh and then he set the world alight like a different bloke

He should never have cost £4m. We were bidding for a club’s captain on deadline day, of course the price was inflated. Poor negotiating but that isn’t Kitching’s fault.

Comparing Kitching and Thomas to McNally is like comparing apples to oranges.

I'm sure Kitching and Thomas would look much more secure in a back 5 with Fadz playing slightly deeper than them.

This is it

He's not thick and knows he could be a premier league player with us or move on and be one. A pay cut for a little while isn't the end of the world

That's if it's true. All i know is he wanted to stay, Robins wants him to stay but it's all down to Bolognas asking price. Which last time I knew was ludicrous hence putting the kibosh on it

Transfer Market have his value at £2.2m an apparently he moved to bologna in 2020 for £97k !
