Was actually impressed with the 2 today , think Thomas had his best game for a bit and feel like in a back 4 this partnership is probably what we will see for the next 3 or 4 seasons unless promoted

I was saying on the way back to the car, if we ditch the back 3 I can’t see mcfadz playing many more minutes. Not knocking him, he’s been one of our best signings in the last 10 years and absolutely brilliant for us.

lots of potential with kitching and Thomas , looks a very big brutish partnership. Kitching has certainly got the passing ability aswell

Look fadz is mid 30s and has been a remarkable buy for us given his return and efforts .. maybe his time is up maybe it isn't but his game time will surely start to dwindle from this point.. love the bloke 👏

Thought Thomas was good last week as well TBH, starting to look like he's got some confidence back and a bit more aggressive

Thomas best game for us. Kitching is going to be class. The clowns that had written him off before he’d even started for us, no words, absolute joke.

Not sure if people saw it but Kitching was screaming at people to step up towards the end of the game. Leader in there.

Thomas has played okay most the games he has played, unfortunately he had a couple of blips that have cost goals.

Looked solid at the back throughout, need to stick with this for a few.

Though Stoke looked awful so let's see how it goes in the next few games.
Though I do think this could be the end of Fadz.
You thought Stoke looked awful .I think we made them look that way it's great we all see things from different angles. What I will say the longer the game went on the less they looked like scoring. That back four looked solid.Agree with you last point.(great sevant)

We can argue all day about whether we were poor or whether we made them look poor, that's why I think we need the evidence of a few more games to see how effective these changes really have been.

I thought we looked resolute across the back line, first time this season.

Have to feel bad for Mcfadz, I also feel like he might be a bit part player now. Loosing your place in the team because his mum died and he's on empathetic level is really harsh.

Thought they both did well today. Certainly Thomas' best game for us.

Thought they did well as a unit. Not sure it's what I'd have gone with, but need to stick with it now. Clean Sheet should instill confidence and can't keep chopping and changing that back line every game.

Can anyone explain why Mcfadzean apparently cannot play in a back 4? I think he would be fine if we sit deeper as the back 4 did today.

I was going to start a thread earlier in the week asking whether it’s time to make Kitching captain as Kelly is often injured and McFadz is likely nearing the end. Both have been wonderful servants, of course. Good to see Kitching demonstrating those qualities.

Personally would have had Binks and Mcfadzean in the centre but obviously Mcfadzean couldnt play so id have today had Binks and Thomas. Thomas did look much better than any other match he played. back 4 is the way to go with the holding midfielders. to give us a solid base.

He's far to slow for that now, he just can't get back quick enough.
But a back 4 like today will sit deeper wont it? latabadieure definitely was more defensive than when we play wing backs so would he not be ok in a back 4? Thomas is hardly overly quick either. I do see Thomas as the long term Fadz replacement just dont want to rush him thats all.
Lots of positives today i thought.

Today Kitching and Thomas did pop up past the half way line playing balls in and ran back when stoke broke. Fadz just doesn't have the legs for that. I love the guy and still fully believe he'll have a part to play this season, just not as a starter. I fully agree though, lots of positives today. The whole back line seemed a lot more settled.

Thomas had a good game today for the most part but he can also be incredibly erratic and looks like he’ll definitely get more than one red card during his time here. Ref was quite lenient with him today, managed to get away with what was basically a rugby tackle at one point

Yes, erratic!... Was it him that have alway a ridiculous foul on 94mins giving them a chance to put a set piece into our box!?

Kitching also got himself a very silly and needless yellow for kicking the ball away, putting him on a knife edge for a red for the last 25 mins which wasn't necessary....
