The 4 we have signed have not been Greta by any stretch
Welcome to the internet.
... and made it less likely we would lose the ball in the first placeOne thing I noticed we did was have Torp (and maybe Sheaf) collect the ball in a sort of quarter back position, which helped our shape defensively if we lost the ball
I don't think we need to buy/loan another CB but change the way we play that leaves our defence so open to a counter attack. I wasn't at Millwall and have only seen highlights but it sounds like we had a better defensive set up from the whole team. Against Cardiff we often had JDS, Rudoni & EMC all within 20 metres getting in each others way & leaving a massive space behind for Cardiff to exploit. It also sounds better with Torp/Sheaf dropping deep to get the ball from the CBs to play forward which is what McLean did excellently for Norwich at the CBS.Our defence was better last season with the same players And Thomas played 44 games so you'd have to say a combination of things has made us concede more goals this season
Just to add to this, it's not always about the quality of the pass but also movement to receive it. I think everyone gets frustrated when we see the CB's pass between themselves only to get the ball back immediately if they go wide. The issue for a while has been poor movement to create space combined with neither CB wanting to advance with the ball.Once again, I am informing people on here that he passes the ball very very well. It’s just that sometimes he chooses to play a risky pass at the wrong moment. Feel like this is pretty easy to coach out of a player.
Noticed Torp and Sheaf dropping to collect which negates that problem whilst there was a lot more movement to pull players and make space. Just a better system then we've seen for a while.
Does this not highlight the limitations of data. Our defence have been conceding nearly 2 goals a game on average and our CB at the heart of the mess has decent stats! Unless it's all been Binks fault but he has a rating of 6.71 which is similar. These are pretty reasonable aren't they? Could be better but could be a lot worse

Not sure how data can be used to show how much the mistakes in dangerous positions from several players have cost us dearly with goals against.Does this not highlight the limitations of data. I rate Bobby Thomas but agree with this. As i've always said, still something to be said for the eye test.Does this not highlight the limitations of data.
Don't disagree, but it does point to lots of the goals conceded being more systemic than individualDoes this not highlight the limitations of data. The only other players I've seen of ours do this (or pull relatively wide to offer a ball for the centre backs) are Hamer and Jamie Allen
Bidwell always puts himself in a position to receive a pass.
Midfielders, that would be Bidwell's natural position
