Ironic from you. Got the premier League attendances at Highfield Road yet, or still droning on about 1980.
I take it we weren't in the Premiership in the 80's then? Or are you going to be a clever c**t and point out we were not in the Prem then even though we were in the "TOP DIVISION" move the "Goalposts? Much!!!

The reason I said the Premier league years was because that was the era I was specifically referring to. The 23K capacity I mentioned was for that period, mainly after the East stand had been built. I don't think we had that capacity at any other time, did we?

I was not referring to pre 1980 when I started watching and our capacity was over 30k, nor when we became the first all seater stadia with a capacity of just over 20k, or when we opened the Kop back up. The reason I stated that period as was this was when we had an upturn in interest and higher gates, but yet even with a 23k capacity did not often fill it, and that is why I was using it as an example as to a 25k stadium at the Butts, that even when we were in the Premier league with all its interest and publicity we still couldn't fill the stadium, so 25K could be ok.

If you think making a valid point makes me a big headed arsehole or a c**t, the you have a serious problem. I have made a valid point, re a specific period, and there is NO moving of any goalposts, just those you think are there to prove a point. So go and insult someone else unless you want to seriously answer the question.

I will leave you now as our club have a game which I am sure you will agree we need to win.

Just for everyone's information, SISU/CCFC are a million miles away from this lease deal and will remain that way as long as SISU are in town.

Really where were your referals to a certain time of HR.. There is none is there!.... And do you ever read all of anyone's posts? Did you not read where I said If BPA was a goer, and we were allowed to increase capacity to 25k that I'm "All for it" or were you having selective blindness then? Were you also, having selective deafness when Simon Gilbert quoted that the BPA did indeed have a potential of being 25k, but said "That was too big" and it will stay at 15k? Or do you want to move the posts again?
See Potentiality, and actuallity are two different things in the case of BPA. Enjoy the game as will I.

You don't even know what the planned ground would be, I bet you didn't bleat when we were in the Premier League at Highfield Road when the capacity was 23K.
#108

As for ignoring what Simon said, I didn't, I questioned the fact you made this statement 'CRFC will not allow the increase to 25k. or even anywhere near it!' when CRFC had an Architect design plan for a 25K stadium. Feel free to post where I deny what Simon said.

Potentially and actuality are two different things, but if you are designing for a potential, then they may consider it to become an actual, whether it be what they have designed, your 90 degree move of the pitch or whatever.

i was told a while ago re BPA that if one resident at that retirement village objects that could delay things months even years, I would think it's certain there will be objections. I don't know the laws or rules on these things but don't see being that smooth.

There will definitely be objections, not just from the Retirement Village, it will always happen, but you are spot on in highlighting the retirement village as it really is in close proximity.

Whether it will ever get that far, or whether they are enough to stop it, if the project did go ahead, time will tell.

We have seen how the Ricoh can be.
Still remember the noise and subsequent goose pimples/tears when the team came out when we returned from Northampton.
That's what I want.
BPA kills that ambition and for many will be the final nail in the coffin of support.
It's all about where I want us to be, not about being a nicely run club stuck at this level.
Would you say this if you had parking space at the Butts, you would be all over it and praying we move there.
Anything about us leaving The Ricoh you absolutely hate
I'm sorry Italia most on here can't stand your standpoint or opinions because you have a vested interest in us staying there

Hang on, what if:
You are still renting?
The pie money isn't yours?
The seats are dark blue and white?
The Coventry RFC sign is twice the size as yours?
Rugby playes wrecking the pitch?

Or arogantly do you think you will be moving in and just taking over?

Just a few thoughts.

I think the problem could be if a stadium is over a certain size it has to be approved by the Secretary of State, that alone can take ages even without any objections, don't get me wrong if we could get a stadium Like BPA and decent size minimum 25k I'd be all for it, just some on here talk as if it's a formality couldn't be more wrong

I’ll not mention his name but at a recent Cov Rugby game at BPA, I was standing next to an elderly bald headed gentleman wearing spectacles in an overcoat. He was having a conversation with another gentleman about the progression of Cov Rugby and CCFC cropped up. He didn’t want too say much as “it was a conversation for another place and time” but I did hear the words “We won’t deal with SISU as they are the villain of the peace”.

One thing that I think has been missed in this thread is about the potential for a 25,000 seater stadium and the council.

A number of posters talking like a 25,000 stadium could happen.

Errrmmm... hang on, planning permission and go ahead, with any objections quashed, by a council that ....

1. Wants to destroy Coventry City

2. Is working against the club

3. Is all about the City of Rugby

4. Are hated and hold a large proportion of blame for our situation

5. Have no interest in helping Coventry City at all

6. Have said they will not work with Sisu

Etc. Etc.

???

People have absolutely been slating the council something rotten on here and been calling them every name under the Sun, with some saying they wish to destroy Coventry City FC and would never help us.

Yet ...... they suddenly, out of the blue will rubber stamp a 25,000 seater stadium for us, just like that! ;)

Wow! Those naughty barstards.

If they liked us I guess we would be getting 150,000 seater arena with retractable roof, stocked up mini bar under every seat and free blow jobs every week.

So nope, no one can give me one good reason we should stay at the Ricoh then?

I would like to know why staying at the Ricoh is the best bet for Coventry City. I've heard plenty on why we shouldn't go to the BPA but no real credible argument for staying and renting from Wasps, who let's be honest, aren't about to hand us any more revenue.

Until we know if we are heading up or down you can't answer that question.

If we got promoted this season, we could easily make proper use of the Ricoh and be too big for the BPA. If we stay where we are or go down then a tiny stadium is fine.

The thing is you have to look at Coventry as a city. It's growing, it's looking like employment will pick up soon, it's a one club town that has known success in living memory, there's more potential here than at somewhere like Walsall or Scunthorpe in theory.

Personally, I'd quite like the purpose built ground and training ground/academy set up. But I have no idea how feasible that is.

There's a decent argument that while we're renting a rugby ground we should rent one of appropriate size. I'd just always hoped we were better than either long term.

We will not have a requirement of a stadium that size for several years.
The only requirement at present is a site where the potential to build exists. Councils change owners change and circumstances change. The important thing for me is a site that isn't the Ricoh.

for me, that would mean been able to develop the site across to the park.
Couldn't see the council going for that at present but as you say, councils and circumstances change.

Seems to be an awful lot of big assumptions being made. People assuming that we would control the BPA somehow. I think it is made clear in the crfc statement that the rugby club will isn't it?. There are various ways of exerting control the simplest is to own over 50% of the shares.

It would seem the head lease will be in a separate company controlled by crfc. That means that the property will be in the crfc group of companies not Ccfc one. What would appear in the Ccfc group accounts is the fair value of the money/investment put in by the minority shareholder. That doesn't mean we own our own stadium that some are saying.

The split of shares can indicate the splits of income, but there are ways around that. But what seems clear is that Ccfc will not have 100% of the income at BPA. There will be costs to pay you would have to assume too. In addition do the actual needs and strategies long term coincide?

Crfc.own the site if they can develop areas of it (say flats or retail) would that fund the sporting side development? If so do they actually need Ccfc there and a ground size suitable for league1 and above ? Is Ccfc destined to be a tenant not owner?

I think we have to wait see how crfc decides to proceed before making these leaps of faith about the benefit to Ccfc . We need to see the plans for the ground and the two clubs before deciding its great and the way forward. It's going to take time and the development has substantial obstacles to overcome as does I imagine a Ccfc / crfc partnership.
