This is what makes the selection for FL trickier than it would be for a fan.
Nonsence.

There's zero fucking point in pulling of world class saves when you pull a school boy fuck up in the last minutes.

Or continuously get beaten at your near post. (Twice in 3 minutes against Plymouth ffs)

Or go walk about in no man's land like he did vs Burnley. Etc etc

Next Saturdays game should be a dead rubber and a chance for Frank to rest a few players, instead it's a must win knife edge of a game, thanks to one clown.

I have got to agree with you , i have never seen so many Sky Blues fans so down since the Man Utd game, it is going to be difficult to raise the fans on Saturday , everybody body is feeling the why us? at the moment .

Yea, as I said it should be a dead rubber, but if Collins plays, there's going to be massive anxiety everytime the ball goes near our box,
That's not going to help our defenders.

I just hope we play like we did against Sunderland and West Brom, and put the game to bed with no panicking.

I started watching city in 1966 and seen numerous keepers from Bill Glazier through to now.
I remember Raddy A being dropped for the season by Bobby Gould for dropping a few clangers, but Collins has made far more mistakes and yet retained his place.
IMO Collins is by far the worst keeper in my lifetime of supporting city.

It's the assumption that if Collins starts we've no chance that I have difficulty with.
I think it's reasonable to suggest that if Collins starts, we have less chance than if Wilson starts.
Based on Collins's form of late, and that is also accepting that Wilson hasn't started a competitive match for some time due to injury.

It would be incredibly brave, or stupid of Lampard to stick with Collins, knowing that an error in such a pivotal game would leave him wide open to the harshest criticism.

There’s zero evidence that he’s picking him because of a Chelsea connection.

If Wilson was as good as you claim he’d have played more than one season of first team football - he’s 33 ffs….there’s a reason he’s had a career and not actually played much.
Obviously Wilson is highly thought of by Frank Lampard and the club - he is a better keeper than Collins will ever be.
33 is nothing for a goalkeeper - he is so good that the club got him signed to a new contract only last month that will take him up to 2027 - so yes he is as good as I claim and should start in place of calamity Collins on Saturday!

Wouldn't disagree with any of this, which is why I said I'd rather Wilson starts.

Definitely an anxiety issue.Hes got into his own head, doubting himself even though he’s played pretty well and made decent saves. So he’s made a rash decision and cost us the game.Ben has to play against Boro as it’s a high stakes game and you can guarantee that Brad will get into his own head and start doubting himself at some point.
So if that’s the case he needs to knock on Lampards door and say-
“Boss, I’m sorry-it’s best for all parties that I sit this one out”.

More likely recently in football....but that could and traditionally would be perceived as a sign of weakness - not sure how "there" we might be as a club in terms of that type of things.
I think the Burnley player Foster took an extended time out of the side last season for MH reasons.

Any one else think that all this negative press of Collins, as much as it's deserved, is distracting from the fact that Simms has been absolutely useless for most (if not all) of the season?

Has a player ever done that?
I'm sure it's happened before, probably more times than we'd imagine, but it would have to stay confidential. MH issues can obviously affect anyone, so pro footballers arn't immune, especially in high pressure situations.

There's no suggestion as far as im aware, that Collins has a MH issue, if he did he certainly shouldn't be in the spot light.

I'd say it's more a tragic case of a lack of form.

Yeah he’s so highly rated that he’s never played for us under Lampard and has had one season of first team football at the age of 33.

I would almost guarantee Collins is starting vs Middlesbrough, there’s been too many games where I’ve thought ‘that’s the last time we’ve seen him in a cov shirt’ and next game he’s there. I don’t see it changing for the last game of the season. We can only back the team Lampard puts out, will be a good day out regardless…. Let’s pray he has a blinder, scores a last minute winner Ben Wilson style

I think I've said a few times I never want to see Collins in goal again, he's a calamity and makes stupid mistakes time and time again, I will give him some credit against Luton he made a good few saves but undone that work by handing them the points, well Binks played his part aswell, but it was mainly Brad so it doesn't change my view that he must not start vs Boro and should leave in the summer.

However his head has gone and is clearly lacking confidence, form and there maybe some MH issues going on that's the root of this , I really hope the management just help him out by taking him out the first team and out the spotlight it's not going to help him and it won't help the team, if he has some MH issues then I hope he gets sorted for his own sake, so I wish him well in that department.

We need a big performance sat and I hope Bobby and MVE are back, I'd put Wright and Assante up top as Assante doesn't stop running and boro's defence are shaky when pressure is applied to them, they were lucky not to concede vs Norwich as they pressed /harried them and they just kept giving the ball away, being at home the lads will feed off that an will get the job done! Absolutely crazy that it's possible to say that, after having to watch Burge in goal for us. Yet I think you're right.

I don't know what will be more insane on Saturday; Collins starting, or Collins being dropped in the last game of the season, after managing to go all this time without being dropped.

Burge was another like Wilson who has given some immensely proud moments won individual accolades and gets his name consistently smeared on here. Even on this thread, Collins who has literally given us nothing is still defended by some who have a pop at Burge and/or Wilson. We know both are limited in their own ways, but not the level of derision in which they're often mentioned.

I started following the Sky Blues in 1967 ,my first game being that game against Wolves. In my opinion Collins is the worst keeper I've seen play for us. Yet FL keeps picking him despite the endless mistakes. Collins was useless last season ,how he let that cross go through him for Manures first goal in the semi final against us,I'll never know. Hope he's not with us next season.
