If they're paying his wages, it means we can get a loan in this season, if thats anything. Perm would be better though.
He's in his last year, isn't he? If so, then a full year's loan is the equivalent of releasing him on a free. You could also argue that even if he isn't in his last year, we're not going to get a fee for him, so send him somewhere where he plays, and his value may increase from nothing to something.

Keith said Ohare too
I hope there is no truth in O'Hare leaving (heard that he didn't go out to Spain as he had covid rather than anything else).
He is the one player that I would be absolutely gutted to lose this season. He was outstanding last season and can only get better.

No, his name has not even been mentioned by anyone reliable. He had a good season but will have to do a lot more to get a move

Top of the stats in lots of areas iirc, and if we hinted at him being available, there'd be a big queue for him.

Worth us and him holding on for a season you'd think, if possible. If he can add goals and assist to his game, he can have a pretty decent move, and we can get some pretty decent cash.

As with most loans, we're still likely to be still paying a portion of his wages. So, unsure whether we'll be able to get him totally off the books - as you would if his contract had simply expired.

Decent move for Mason, and there's definitely a player in there somewhere. He never really recovered from Rotherham away though where he was bullied all game.

tbf we'd probably have to pay a proportion of his contract off to persuade him to move anywhere on a free, too.

Start the season in a positive fashion and I'd be looking to extend his contract; his value is only ever going to go in one direction, I think Hamer is also going to have a big season too, so same for him.

A good move for all, and another one of our wage bill.
The bomb squad is getting smaller, just Jobello and Hilsner there now ...... to me to you ....

Hope it works out for him, always rated him and still don’t fully understand how he went for one of the first names on the team sheet to obscurity.

Rotherham game aside I felt he always dealt with his lack of height well, and often seemed to get under people.

Definitely more of a LB than LWB, which is probably one of the reasons he isn’t getting a look in. Would have been interested to see if he could make the step up.

Wasn't mason at one point the only payer in the team who has played in the Premiership.

Moore and Waghorn both have.

Thats reassuring. Please, do let me know who this better LWB and CB is.

I'm pretty confident we will get a couple of prem loans who will be better (and more suitable than them) tbf I'd argue that rose and hyam are better than burke (based on their last league one seasons)

Off at a slight tangent but Pompey have a few trialists turning out for them against Bristol City. Corey Addai being one of them.

So youre telling me Reece Burke, Amari'i Bell and Allan Campbell wouldn't get into our current 11?

I've seen Bell play for Fleetwood but not sure about the others, and remember thinking he looked ok. Then again Blackburn fans seem happy to get rid by all accounts, so who knows. We need to see who MR brings into that position before we can properly judge, but if we start the season with Burroughs or Reid playing then 'on paper' Luton would appear better off.

Not sure how much you've seen of Burke to know he is better than our defenders, but last season he achieved no more than Rose/ McFadzean/ Hyam did the season before when we were in League 1. At that same time he was a regular part of a Hull defence conceding 87 goals. The season before that Hull also conceded more than we did in the Championship last season, when everyone considers we shipped too many goals. If we had signed him I think there would have been plenty of doubters on this site.

As for Campbell, would he definitely replace Hamer or Sheaf? He seems to have a good reputation but he was playing last season for the 8th placed team in the SPL so still has it to prove in the Championship. He looks a promising signing, but SPL signings are notoriously hit or miss and he could yet end up being another Steven Jennings for all we know.
