it is though as he'd still be the 5th cb to be used with binks, kitching, thomas and lati all being picked there before him. It's a waste of money

The depth in terms of numbers which according to Robins own count we’re still 1-3 players behind that standing count of 2022-23. So you haven’t countered that point unless you believe MR to be wrong.

In which case, you clearly know best.

What are the odds that 2 CB's are out as well as MVE being out as well as Eccles.

Where’s that come from? If MVE gets injured, Lati comes in at RB so if Thomas also gets injured/suspended you’re left with a back 4 of Burroughs-Lati-Binks-Bidwell (for example). That doesn’t look particularly strong to be honest. Burroughs hasn’t played a competitive match at RB in his career. We’re not likely to play 2 left footers at CB either unless things are desperate.

It’s not just ‘who can cover’ you need role players to compete to start for places and have players who can change games in-game.

Robins has been looking at a CB and a CM for a while. He either believes the quality, quantity or both isn’t there in those positions to achieve our aims.

You don’t get linked with Worrall or Stamenic if you plan on having be role players.

Eccles has also played RB, and had individual RB performances last season better than any I've seen from MVE.

Tbf I didnt read born in. In that case Solihull is possible. I know he was brought up and family home in SC though as same street as some friends of mine.

He played RWB/RM which is very different to RB. Burroughs for instance has played lots of games at LWB/RWB but has never played in a back 4 competitively.

Agree. What I dont want to see is Lati there. I think MR uses that as an excuse to give him more game time as he's a good player but not first choice CB, so he shoehorns him in there as cover or as cover for CM. He's neither. He's CB and should only play there imo.

Not sure you can argue we have less player than that season though? Looking through the squads on TransferMarkt I'll give 25 players that season, including the half season squad members of JWE, BNC, McNally, Sean Maguire and Todd Kane. That also includes Cian Tyler who I haven't included in this years squad.

This season we already have 24, not including BTA or Obikwu.

Good grief some of those names make you shiver - Maguire and Kane not the most effective squad members

Kane was like Paulo Maldini compared to Maguire.
Maguire wouldn't have got in the team we had in our fist season back in the Championship, he was truly dreadful.

Burroughs literally played 10 plus games at RB in 22/23 you clown
