You just reminded me...

I checked up on the story about possible negotiations and got this: A third party brokered negotiations that would include agreements on parts of the JR* in the conditions. The council wanted the lawyers to talk first and that phone call (15 days ago) ended with Christine Forde saying that they'd meet again in the high court.

So, negotiations that would have included the JR were knocked back by the council.

I checked with three separate sources and the only one that can be named is Mark Labovich who added that he would be happy for anyone who wants to know more to email him. I won't publish his email here but feel free to PM me for it. Handy hint: be polite and respectful rather than angry and demanding to get the best reply

I was surprised that this didn't make the CT TBH.

* From my understanding, the JR cannot be dropped but parties can agree on what they will say which in effect neutralises it.

Well you've had his phone number for a few weeks and you could have come to the Council House on 10 May too!

He never goes to the counts. Partly because he has to get up at 6 in the morning for work and because they're not that exciting or worthwhile.

Maybe this is a situation where the CT seems to be missing the experience and extensive contacts of Les Reid ;-)

RobS is there now a shift in the strategy of GCBTR?

Previously it was a group that was filling a gap in the fans campaign by putting pressure on the Council. The election statement seems to suggest it is now the fans campaign for putting pressure on everyone. How are you doing that? and are you co-ordinating with the other fans groups like the Trust or KCIC to ensure a united effort? How has that progressed?

Rob, I think most realise the council aren't talking publicly while the JR is over their head, that would be definition include an independent broker. Also, from what you say it's a gentlemens agreement with Sisu and I think everyone (apart from perhaps you it seems) would run a mile from one of those.

What exactly are you gaining by repeatedly stating this? Do you seriously think they'd do something to prejudice the JR?

You're coming across as a bit of a crank mate. As you're so close to Labovitch, why not focus some of your efforts on getting answers from him? Maybe start by asking when we're getting the fans forum on finances he promised.

And don't pull the old "go talk to him". He's a fucking executive of a large business, he should be trying to get fans on board, not the other way around. If you're any kind of fan representative you'd be holding him to account, not being his mouthpiece in public.

In case you hadn't noticed our club's dying on it's arse, maybe you could use your self publicising powers for good?

Not sure how many votes he was expecting us to get although his editor seemed to think we were in with a chance of winning which was a bit mad.

I've just had a text from Brian and he thinks 235 votes is 'excellent' and I agree.

Since it appears SISU are telling you about stuff that they're not sharing publicly, can I ask what was the scope of these proposed talks, Rob?

Was there, for instance, any suggestion that the JR might be dropped?

Was the possiblity of returning to the Ricoh on a rental deal whilst other negotiations continued, on the table?

Who was approached at the Council, and by whom from SISU?

It would be useful to know a bit more before coming to a conclusion about this - can you tell us, please?

Most people in Coventry vote against SISU and our football club.

Some on here would be calling Simon biased again. Yet he doesn't get much of a chance to make SISU sound good as they rarely do anything good.

It is, when that "minor candidate" is standing for something as important as trying to get the football team back in the City. Still, best not to upset ACL, eh?

Limited resources maybe, so best not to spend time on stories like "Ten Players From Coventry/Warwickshire who didn't sign for CCFC". Or "What Ever Happened to Mansett" and look at current issues that matter.

I'm not quite sure how else to describe it, in all honesty. If you've got a single policy candidate, and only 200-odd people care enough about that policy to vote for it, then I'd politely suggest that perhaps it not a burning issue for local voters. Either they just don't care at all, or the ones that do care about the Ricoh aren't convinced that it's the Council's fault.

It's really a bit sad that some on here are gloating about the results. Agree or not with the campaign, but Rob and a few others have put a lot of effort into doing something they feel passionately about, trying to get the club back to the Ricoh, something which everyone on here claims to want.

You all stay behind your screens, pontificating. You all put all that effort into not going to watch the club and keeping your pennies in your pockets. Fucking heroes, the lot of you.

Well done Rob. Anyone who tries to make a difference is alright in my book.

There's a huge flaw in the logic here.

Pointing out the 'failure' of Patton's campaign is not the same as not caring about the future of the club. Far from it.

Everyone votes based on priorities. You may not like it but you will have to except that issues like schools, nhs & immigration come first when voting. Obviously if your a sado and ccfc / sisu is your life then you would have voted for Patton.
It doesn't mean that you don't want Cov back in Cov like you and Grendel are trying to suggest !!

You have a POV and certainly let everyone know it. Fair play to you. But having a POV that favors SISU won't bring our club home. I am sorry to say but you are starting to sound more like Grendel each day. More interested in the council? CCC lovers? I would say that there are as many as so that are SISU lovers. Hardly any if there are any at all. I suppose you count me as one. I have no interest in CCC at all. Higgs is a different matter. But I think a lot of charities and the good they do though.

SISU will get my backing when I think they deserve it. But I have seen no reason for it yet. And I don't see how backing them will help to bring our club home. They are after what they can't and won't get. They are going about it all the wrong way. This is including the way that they are treating us supporters and dealing with our club. I know I can be seen as leaning towards CCC more than SISU. This is because I want a secure place for the future of our football club for us to play. SISU have never explained anything to us. All they have said is that the arena won't be owned by our club. That isn't good enough to me. I want more of a secure future and not hope for the best. SISU haven't given me any hope for a long time now. Why would anyone think this would suddenly change?
