Bright and Robins (1 Viewer)

I think Robins has gambled on the much higher professionalism in the group getting Bright to up his own levels. Like a trouble maker in school being put in a high achieving group

An interesting thought... is Bright actually around the first team much though?

Does that mean you don't trust Robins because Bright isn't being given a chance then?
Why would I think that?
As far as I can see Bright hasn't reached a level where he could be considered. I saw him play against Mansfield, Nuneaton and Northampton. In none of those games did he look any where near the level required to challenge for a place.
The point I am making is that some people seem to be actively hoping he doesn't make it. Why?
Surely we would all hope he gets to a level where he can challenge for a first team place and make a difference to the team?

I would say that against Mansfield ( yes it was only Mansfield and it was only a friendly) he produced a couple of moments of magic and had the away end on their feet in what otherwise, from a City point of view, was a fairly drab game.

If, and at the moment it appears to be a big if, he can do it in the Championship, why not give him the time to do it, particularly as it appears he is not having a negative affect around the team?

Evidence that he is having a negative effect here? If that's not the case why not trust Robins and give him a chance?

It's not about trusting Robins. He's on a tight budget and has to try and uncover talent on the cheap.
It's Bright I don't trust. If he messes up his own career then fine, I just don't want there to be any collateral damage.

Don’t want Bright to fail, pissed off we have used part of our tight budget on a player who can’t be arsed to get up to standard

which is very understandable, but what kind of collateral damage- its not as if anything the guy has done has made a jot of difference so far, the spirit among the team is obviously, visibly excellent.

Just all seems a bit disproportionate thats all- people claiming that someone wanted to bin Robins to accommodate Bright etc, when they didn't say that at all

But like I've said, one bad apple can change that, I've seen it happen. That doesn't mean it will in this case but if he's not going to even get a chance in the u23s why even risk having him around?

without wishing to fall back on the old chestnut its impossible not to do so in this case- MR is closest to it and he obviously thinks its worth persevering with, and thats good enough for me.

If he could somehow get himself fit & mentally ready then come Dec/ Jan with potential injuries & suspensions mounting up, it would be brilliant to have someone like him to introduce.

To be honest there have been so many rumours about what he's been up to I have no idea whats true and what isn't. One thing I'm pretty sure of from what I've read & heard- if Robins got the first inkling that he was disrupting the team he wouldn't be allowed anywhere near of any of them

Yes but I don’t think alienating players from the first team training ground and train with the kids is going to persuade them to move on quicker

Why not, the feeling of not being wanted is horrible. Especially when your professional playing career is only about 15 years on average why would you waste a year of that rotting in under 23s with no development.

But he's not even getting in the u23s. How can a profeesional player let his fitness go that much?
Kanes not played first team for months but managed to last 90 minutes on Saturday.

If Bright actually manages to play some football at any level I might be a bit less wary of his motivation for being at the club.

As for the rumours, yes probably many are untrue.
But As keiron Dyer once said, half the stories about him were untrue, but people made them up because the other half weren't.

Well Jobello and Hilssner are still here despite having that treatment

If he doesnt make it here then as far as im concerned his proffesional career at any decent level top 4 tiers is finished.

Its last chance saloon.

Motivation is the bottom line- if it was me I'd be looking at the table and thinking "I could potentially be a premiership player next year", not sure what more incentive there is really.

If he can’t look at what we’re doing at the moment and do everything in his power to get into this team and be part of this then I don’t think he ever will.
