I wouldn’t call it a desperate signing tbh. His consistent spell in his career was with us so Robins etc know what they are doing.

I’m conflicted though. On one hand he has so much natural ability he could potentially win us games. On the other he seems to lack discipline and hasn’t pulled up any trees since his first spell with us.

Views have gone slightly extremist on this. Yes, we know he's not exactly a great character but we also know he's a potential match winner.
If there is a deal that costs this club a minimal amount and is easily reversible, then why not?
He was on 12k in India. He will be on at least 2/3rds of that here. Would you pay him £8k a week?

If he's got the discipline to perform in india after a curry and a cobra every night, i'm sure he will be just fine here.

How many trees did Mark Robins pull up after his first spell with us?

Got to trust Robins on this one. He knows the player and will no doubt have made it clear exactly what will be expected of him. Hopefully there's clauses in any contract that allow him to be dismissed if he starts causing trouble.

We all know there is a lot of talent there so if he's finally got the message he needs to buckle down and put the work in who knows, could end up being an inspired signing.

I guess it'd depend how he affected the squad's overall team spirit and work ethic. Then again, management have had the chance to see that before!

What did Mark Robins achieve after he left us before he came back?
I’m not talking about Robins. I’m pointing out that Bright hasn’t done anything since leaving us. I’m not saying I’m against the signing, I’m on the fence about it.

Exactly- you can’t use that as a reason to say it’s a bad signing because Robins failed badly after he left us, then came back and did a fantastic job
I didn’t say it would be a bad signing! Fuck sake read my posts before commenting

I trust MR enough, especially as he has worked with Bright previously, that any deal will be structured in a way which gives us a get out of Bright starts pissing around or disrupting squad harmony. In which case I have no real problem with signing him.

What we don't want is him being signed on a straight 2 year deal or whatever and being stuck with him if things go wrong.

i doubt very much that Bright will be able to get one over on Adi and Lawrence. Decent signing. If i remember correctly Leon Clarke was a bit of a c**t and Robins got a cracking season out of him.
I thought Robins left by that point? That being said - I trust Robins on this one, if he thinks Bright will put in the work, it’ll be a good signing

Whether manager or player, or any other environment, some people are just a good fit in a particular environment where it just doesn't work elsewhere.
JCH?
For the last time. I NEVER SAID IT WOULD BE A BAD SIGNING. I pointed out that we got the best out of him but I’m conflicted because of his rumoured attitude and disciplinary problems off the pitch. Jesus fucking wept

If he gets sent off we should be automatically be able to cancel him. Didn't he get sent off in his first game for us?

Not sure why you’re criticising this signing before it’s even been announced. Have a bit of positivity and give him some games before slating him👍🏻

Good to see that a few self appointed experts on a messageboard know more than one of our most successful managers of all time 👍

The same manager who didn't want him last time round - his career has hardly improved has it

I fail to see your point

Robins record as manager here was similar in terms of ppg to it is now (more first time I think)

No one of course knows what we will be paying him. I cannot believe its going to be much -- if its happening I am genuinely astonished given we wrote him off first time round

Point is saying that a lack of achievement after leaving the club first time round cannot be taken as an indicator of likely success second time round.
