Not to defend anybody mate but that's a bit of a stretch considering it's all under the United Kingdom (foreign signings )

I just looked up foreign signings in the spl and zero English players were mentioned , or Welsh for that matter

I think it’s more our scouting overseas is shite
I'd say it's more we take some wild risks and we big them up, because they're overseas.

Hilssner is about the level of signing of Tavares really, isn't he? A player who might come good but, in all likelihood, will sod off from whence he came. Neither of those signings are made with an expectation as such.

Bosman applies like any other signing and they play in a different league setup. Look I can count Rose as foreign if he can claim Hamer was a “semi success” alright? Internet argument rules.

Dabo was born and raised in London and signed for us from Chelsea. Maybe geography wasn’t your strongest subject at school!

How many years would you offer Bright if we were interested in him? Do you just give him a 1 year deal to prove himself or a couple of years? If we were to offer him a short term deal and he did really well then we wouldn't want to risk losing him on a free.

But when we scouted him he was playing abroad. Maybe history wasn’t yours!
Viveash already knew about him as has been pointed out to you numerous times. Again, we didn’t sign him from overseas, we signed him from Chelsea.

And I’ve pointed out I seriously doubt Viveash saying “I knew a kids three years ago” was the sum of the scouting process.

What do you think it is about players from overseas that means they’re all crap and we shouldn’t sign any? Why do other clubs manage to find players?

I think some posters on here either don't realise, or they ignore how difficult it can be for a young player to leave his home country, friends, and sometimes, culture, particularly when there is a global pandemic raging, and to some extent thay have to face being locked down in a foreign country, in many cases on their own. Who knows what support they have had. Many young people have suffered major mental health issues without having to cope with all that.
At the moment I think we should cut our young foreign imports a serious amount of slack.

I never said overseas players are crap. I’m more interested how you calculate an English player equates to an overseas signing. The only water he crossed to come to us was the Thames

How do you know we scouted him abroad, someone posted an article saying we signed him based on recommendations from Viveash from his time playing, he played half a year at Swindon, he played for Chelsea in the Checka trade.

Because both the club & player said so?
AV never saw him play a senior game, he played a part in making Dabo's decision easy but he was scouted & recruited the same way as everyone else.

Just so I’m clear: player moves from China to France, in your opinion not a foreign signing because they share a land mass?

You know full well that’s not what I’m saying. Dabo may have been scouted whilst playing in Holland but he’s English and signed from an English club so is therefore NOT a foreign signing. It’s really not that difficult

He came under rules that only apply to foreign signings. He plays in a different league pyramid with a different FA in a different country. I’m not the one who decided players have to cross water to be foreign.

Scotland as the crow flies is about the same distance as France or the Netherlands.

It's ridiculous that people think we only signed Dabo because Viveash knew him years ago and never saw him play a senior game.

Whether you think he is an overseas signing or not, we obviously scouted him and watched him play in Holland. It's absurd to suggest otherwise.
