I feel like Thomas and Kitching were played against them in the cup so they could have a proper look at them and get some familiarity for the league game so they'll come back in. I think they're our best partnership and they will play the tougher games.

MR went with Binks and Lati at home to Oxford as he thought he could get away with our second choices and to be fair we did (just)
Rubbish. Binks is better than Thomas & Kitching combined.
Kitching can't defend for shit, gets caught out of position and loves an own goal and Thomas can't pass a football to a team mate.
We desperately need another CB to play alongside Binks.

It's hard to believe that we're supposed to be serious promotion contenders while also talking about playing Binks at CDM.

Who cares about the state of our defence/defensive midfield?

With a front six of Saka, Simms, BTA, Wright, EM-C and Bassette we will easily outscore Bristol 👍

7-4 to us 🙂

Binks was at fault for both of Oxfords goals, for the first he was so easily out jumped it's ridiculous, in fact I don't think he even got off the ground, and having been mugged off he failed to press the ball, allowing a free shot.

For the second goal he was caught ball watching as 2 players were allowed to move off the back of him, leaving Bidwell to try and cover him which then left Bidwell out of position.

Binks is definitely the best ball playing CH on our books, but his first job is to defend, and right now he's behind Thomas and Kitching in that department.

Now way!
He’s implicated as he lost a header but the goal was on simms not clearing
Second one
Torp 70% for not making a tackle
25% Bidwell for not bothering to mark his man and may 5% on binks for not stopping the guy cock the ball in

bidwell had to cover binks for the second goal as binks had lost his man

Simms's involvement shouldn't of been needed if Binks had done his job.
Binks is supposed to be the commanding CH, go look at the highlights and tell me that Binks did his job.

You could argue that Eccles and Simms were culpable too, but theres only one big CH, and if he can't even challenge for a header in the box, what's the point.

Go look at the second goal, Binks is ball watching and hasn't got a clue where either Oxford player is.

I agree on the second goal with ball watching but out of the 3 players that could have done something Pete is right he has the smallest role in the goal and the others should have done more. Especially Bidwell whose defending is shocking.

The first goal your right he should challenge for the header however, the attacker (a much bigger CB) gets the jump on him, and it's a third phase goal which whether binks wins it or not should have been dealt with prior to that and most definitely by Simms. It's too easy to place it squarely on the CB you defend as a team and really Simms made a poor mistake.

Are we likely to sell 200 tickets in the next 21 hours when they’ve been on general sale for ages?
There's atleast 700 moaners who need to get their points up

I'd put the first goal down to Simms.

There should be a cash for points swap system. I'd sell off some of mine for a pound a point.

All depends on Robins if he thinks Sheaf and Bassette are ready to sit on the bench. Because if he deems them ready a few we are used to seeing will not make the squad. Already from last season, Collins, Tavares, Andrews are looking in, so its going to be a decision to pick the bench never mind the 1st 11. And that is a very good sign, i cant see us holding this many players but this is what a squad is for to drive internal competition.

The young lads we have at the minute need to develop elsewhere, Obikwu, Dausch, Andrews and Howley need to catch up and quick. Mens football week in week out is the only way. Because the pathway is closing at the club to get the games they need to bridge the gap. L1 for Howley and Obikwu L2 for Dausch and Andrews.

Hey Sky blues, I hope you've all had a good summer thus far.
For those mentioning the cup game, be aware, like yourselves, we only played 3 first teamers and had taken 2 of them off before you scored. I wouldn't read anything into that game tbh.
That said, you're a good side and fancied to go well, I don't disagree with that tbh.
For us, IMHO, we have the strongest tier 2 squad that we've had for decades, maybe not top 2 contenders but certainly alot stronger than we have been previously.
I'd like a home win, obviously, but predict an entertaining scoring draw, maybe a 'Desmond'.
2-2.
Safe travels all.
