Van Ewijk positional sense was terrible today the number of times they had one or two players on the back post or our right side and nearly got goals from it was terrible, he gets sucked inside to often and needs to take care of his side before helping the centre backs .

Probably our best defender (again) today.

Torp completed just 59% of passes, that's pretty criminal for a CM and I can't see why Eccles (88%) is getting more stick for being wasteful by some, even if it was his worst game for a long time.
Let's be honest, they are both not at the level for a team who want promotion.

Going from Hamer and Sheaf to Eccles and Torp is a huge drop in quality

It wasn't great to watch today and althought their goal should have been disallowed and their 8 should have been sent off, I think we did well to get a draw.

But I don't really think it was so bad that we should be talking about the team like they're useless and haven't got a clue. People getting so angry they're offering people out. We were away against a good side and didn't perform to our best, this happens all the time in football. It doesn't mean our new signings are shit or Torp should "fuck off" or "Eccles is League One". It's early in the season and we've got a win, a draw and a defeat, very average start. I think we'll improve when our new players settle and Simms and Saka get back in to their stride.

Keep the faith and PUSB!

I have to say I thought Palmer was excellent today. People are always on his back but I think he's a really important player for us and I really hope he doesn't leave as some suggest. Not just his goal but his passing and running are great. People say he's lazy and doesn't win the ball back but I just don't see that. He always seems to try extra hard against Bristol as well which helped today. I would be starting him instead of Torp or Rudoni.

Why all the negativity?

3 games in. Results evenly spread and we have some fabulous hairstyles out there. Some good barnets on and off the pitch, giving Robins lots to choose from.

It will take him time to get the right bonces in the starting XI, so let’s be patient and optimistic.

Footballing wise, we should be okay. Definitely a top ten side, with the potential to squeeze into the top eight and maybe even the playoffs.

The trouble is the level of expectation. There are a dozen clubs with a genuine claim to be playoffs contenders. Bristol will be one of them, even if they have to continue to kick their way into contention.

Another midfielder needed and perhaps a full back on loan, whilst hoping that Sheaf stays.

Torp tries much harder passes than Eccles tbf. Eccles is also giving the ball away in horrendous positions more than I would like.

Yeah to be fair Torp was terrible today and his pass completion was awful. But Eccles gave the ball away twice in really dangerous positions by trying to take someone on, one of which we were saved by Bidwell brilliant last ditch tackle.

So many diverse and contrasting opinions which is what the forum is all about…..think I’m gonna just stick with what another poster said,’ 3 unbeaten’ and leave it at that. It could have been worse.

Probably would have took a point before the game and certainly take one after. Lati and binks were pretty solid and palmer and jds made a difference when they came on.

However, I think we need to work a lot harder especially with movement off the ball up front and holding up the ball. Our build up play is too slow and we constantly give the ball away. Early days but we need more energy as Robins says and would like to see at least a cm come who can give that in the next week.

Post game emotions are always all over the place.

The reality is that the start of the season is not what fans wanted but is probably what the club merit

I think excellent is a bit of an over estimate. Fantastic goal though.

agree with this, and as Rudoni looked more effective dropped back into midfield perhaps play Rudoni and Eccles / Torp / Sheaf when fit, with Palmer a bit further up - only problem is Palmer tends to tire through a game so we’d also need a plan B

still doesn’t hide the fact we need at least one more quality midfielder who can run the game and get our multitude of attacking players firing

We are so static and predictable at the moment. There was a noticeable difference when the subs came on. Palmer and Mason-Clark are not predictable.
I would have also brought on Allen. At least he shows for the ball and gives some energy.

there really are some silly people on here aren’t there - ‘you’re not a man if you don’t go and have a fight with someone because they disagree with your opinion’ 🙄 I think you need to grow up

and in answer to your previous question, I believe “…..you simple twat , get the fucking replay or stfu” was probably where I realised talking sense wasn’t going to work

are you now going to offer me out too? perhaps you could pick up the scraps once Evo has finished with me?
I’m joking, calm down

The good start to the season that Robins was targeting in pre-season hasn’t really materialised which is quite disappointing.

Oh well though, I’m sure we’ll be ok but definitely not as excited about this season as I was three weeks ago.

There goal was offside all the pundits are saying and they should of been down to 10 men, poor officiating has cost us 2 points😒

Think you all need to chill honestly. Its 3 games... get Sheaf back, get a couple more in hopefully, get Robins to stop kissing the oppositions feet away from home and we'll be ok.
Not sure many of the other fancied teams look great either but its pretty pointless judging us or anyone at this stage.

MR said players looked sluggish. That’s a very troubling statement after a week’s rest. We even have sleep therapist. Are we going back to the tired excuse again? That first half was pathetic and the second half was only marginally better.

The thing that’s most disappointing is how clueless we’ve looked going forwards in the 2 away games. Absolutely no attacking game plan

Sluggish and tired are completely different

Agree. Performances have been poor especially away from home. If we played great but dropped points then there’s something to hang your hat onto.

Definitely unfortunate to miss out in place of Torp who has not started the season well.

Palmer has had 1 full game and about 40 minutes in the 2 matches at Ashton Gate and has got 1 goal and an assist.
On the strength of that he deserves a start ahead of Torp imo, (and yes I know they are different types of players.)

I wasn't able to watch the game against Oxford but it sounded like we attacked amazingly and couldn't defend. Seemed to be the opposite today. Well maybe not quite but we were reasonably solid in defence (although rescued by Dovin a couple of times) and a bit blunt going forward. Maybe Bristol were tactically good at stopping our flow with the ball?

Can only go off what we’ve seen. Looked decent against Oxford, although still need a 95th min winner thanks to a defensive howler, but the performance in these away games has been so, so poor. When the expectations as high as they are it’s only natural for these performances to put a dampener on things. I expect us to get a lot better than we’ve been so far, but it’s hard to get overly excited after watching performances like today’s and Stoke’s.

There's no excuses, we've had a full week to prepare and we're only really missing 1 player due to Injury.
Competition is higher than it's ever been, so MR needs to sort it out.

Well okay, but clearly no energy in our play which is what I’m getting at.
We can't get going offensively when Torp keeps giving the ball away and Eccles can't get into the game, it means that Rudoni drops too deep, and Saka and Wright become isolated and then Simms is starved of service.

The midfield 3 are our engine room, but it's not working well away from home for some reason.

They looked sluggish at Stoke.
Maybe it’s the overnighters? But then the subs looked more lively and
Do think we look vulnerable at the back - they got in behind us far too easily

away from home Eccles and Torp aren’t tough enough. Need more grit in there.

I usually defend refs but have to agree that was a RED card
I'm a Bristol City fan and even I thought Williams could easily have seen red tbh.
Overall, I'm disappointed with a point and fair play to your keeper. 2 decent sides going at it but I was surprised Robins didn't bolster your midfield in the first half as they were being overrun. Not sure what changed after half time but it was a more even game.
Wright looks a player but didn't see much of the ball IMHO.
As for Palmer, had to be him didn't it? Did naff all for us but made a difference today, unlike our subs.
See you next year I guess.

All that will be fixed after signing 5 more strikers this coming week 😂
