which takes me back to the point of when the fixtures came out and including when sheaf got injured. many on here said it’s an easy start to the season

Stoke haven’t won’t a game since they beat us
So we should have done better because people on here said it was an easy start? People on here also thought we'd be challenging for automatics, not everyone lives in reality.

Positive negative springs to mind

Oxford game we created chances but did we really make their keeper do too much? both goals came from wide positions

if teams nullify our wide players like Stoke and Bristol where does that leave us?

we have a very predictable style of play and easy to nullify
The keeper was kept pretty busy. Mainly we played at a higher tempo, dragged players out of position etc. That’s the kind of football we should be encouraging home and away.

kept pretty busy but again, did we really trouble him in terms of making work really hard for his trouble or were most saves standard? bit like dovin yesterday if you ask me. saves you expect a keeper to make

And that is still a positive thing to be doing as opposed to the two shots on target managed in the other two games combined!

with the amount of money spent over the past 2 seasons. we should be challenging for the automatics. Don’t you think?

the amount of money we’ve spent we should be going for automatic.

so you don’t think we have a strong team then?
no, given the parachute payments clubs will usually spend loads, Nowrich are signing playes 12 million quid

Lots of money is spent in this league

You do know we spent more than Norwich over the last 2 summer windows don’t you?

accumulatively over the past 2 summer windows we are one of the highest spenders we now need to be competitive with the big guns

Lots of entitlement here but I would expect us to be top 6 by the end of the season and imagine so does Dougie.

You don't even understand the basic point people are making.

Mate, I can't be bothered talking to someone as moronic as you.

You are going on ignore as frankly you are like talking to a racist 4 year old child.

Have a nice life.

I said on the way down to Bristol a point wouldn't be a bad result .

Woke up today content with the result and I'm sure performances will improve .

Tough game against Norwich always , so we must be better than yesterday as josh sergeant won't be as forgiving as sinclair Armstrong

Last week’s match thread had almost every poster saying that our defence was awful and had to be added to. Today every poster is saying the midfield is awful and has to be added to. Is this all a bit knee-jerk? Maybe a couple of the midfielders had a bad game? Maybe last week the defenders had a bad game? I reckon it’ll be ok over the next few games.
I think if you improve the midfield the defence would be "improved" but not being under so much pressure. The priority has to be a CM/CDM of genuine quality that can control the game

Just because we’ve spent money the last couple of transfer windows doesn’t mean we should automatically be challenging for automatics.
Firstly we’ve had to sell our two best players who were the heartbeat of the team and rebuild. If somehow we could have kept them and spend this money it might be a different story.
Secondly we are spending this money on the back of years and years of very little to no investment in the squad and the club in general. Teams like baggies, Norwich, Burnley, Leeds, Sheffield United to name but a few these are well established championship level squads who’ve been up and down from the prem. We are literally having to build a squad from a team that was decimated from falling all the way to league two. If those teams had spent the money we had then yes I’d agree there would be expectation to challenge for automatics.

Reinvesting and spending what we have done has enabled us to become competitive in the top half of the league. But I don’t feel it gives us the god given right to challenge for automatics especially against those teams with parachute payments. This a tough league make no mistake and no one is guaranteed anything.

Don’t really disagree with that in regards to wide. But from the match Bristol dominated the match from just breaking out high press due to the low line the defence held.

One of my big points of advocacy for the 4-4-2 is how compact it’ll make our team in defence where as a 4-2-3-1 is always a bit too heavy.

Also the beauty of modern football is how fluid it can be. So playing a 4-4-2 with inverted wingers doesn’t mean that if we’re struggling through the middle we can’t push out wide when needed.

I actually think how we attack at the moment is a big problem because we’re so predictable. We either passed it out wide and looked for the overlapped or tried to use the Channels for simms. We’ve got to be able to mix it up to disrupt teams defence gameplay.
The 2 in midfield need to sit higher up the pitch and play more box to box than just holding, I think they are supposed to rotate and one joins in the attack but they're not doing it with any zip at all. I think Rudoni needs to be offering himself for the ball a lot more to create angles and open up spaces.

who said god given right? I didnt

however

after spending over 35mill we should be going for top 4 not just top half. not to mention the additional revenue from season tickets, kit sales etc.
