Where did I say that? You've made yourself look foolish and now you are flat out lying about what I said.

What is hyperbole?

Fine. You said it was a breach of privacy and they shouldn’t release photos of innocent people. Yet they do all the time. Just tell your mate to go talk to the police and have done with it.

Planning on showing me where I said it was just a thing they did with football fans?

You're a smart fella, and anyone whose in those pictures is going to have to go and speak to the police now you're right.

But to say have done with it? Incredibly naive.
In a politically sensitive incident like this they'll be desperate to prosecute someone with anything they can. Won't be the first time.

This if you haven't done anything wrong you've nothing to worry about attitude is absolute bollocks.

“Have done with it” refers to this ridiculous argument.

As for police mistreatment. Let’s cross that bridge if we get to it. I totally get people’s reticence, but just like I wouldn’t accept a black person saying they won’t talk to police because sometimes black people are unfairly treated I won’t accept this. Refusing to talk to the police won’t change attitudes. If something happens that’s out of line and it’s brought to peoples attention it might.

It also just takes one person to say is so and so someone and the name is out there. It's even worse if someone says the wrong name and someone who was not even there is suddenly judged as guilty by the court of social media.

The argument that they do it for non football crimes is a straw man as well as the main crux of he issues is it is wrong no matter what the vrime they are looking for witnesses for.

No one has talked about if it is wrong or right to speak to the police though have they so once again you are changing the subject.

The discussion was about posting pictures of people who are not suspects on social media channels.

The whole thing is weird, and clearly it's too early to say what really happened that day. Right now it does seem like the police are more interested in the videos of the City fans chasing those guys, than the tales of knife-wielding race warriors that somehow came out of it (or triggered it)

NOBODY that wasn't there actually knows, there were allegations that 2 lads approached supporters with knives, and I think that was based on a supporter messing around with BLM placards and talking shit about BLM... I believe that man got slapped about later that evening anyway
Yes and the ones who gave him a beating should also be arrested and prosecuted no need for it.

Speaking with the head you're probably right.
Speaking with the heart, I have limited sympathy for him.
One of the young lads in the initial 3 arrested actually told him to stop being disrespectful when he was tearing down the BLM posters yet he's the one whose got this hanging over his head. I'll save my sympathy for him

So to think it is wrong to post photos of people who are likely innocent makes you criminally minded?

Says a lot about you

If it's clear it's not that these people are suspected of a crime but believe they could help with establishing facts of an incident yes. Rather be able to exhause all means of contacting them and get as much info as possible than have a case fall apart because you don't want to offend a few paranoid people.

Can you imagine the conversation at the station "Sarge, we know there were a number of people in the area who may be able to help us and we've got their pictures. But I've got no idea how we can use that to help us build a better case" That'd be incompetent.

Its not. Some of us know exactly what happened.

They had knives, they told people they had knives and the police found a knife in the bin they were standing next to after they had been chased.

no one is defending any violence or racism but then whole seems to be playing out like "racist football fans chase innocent black lads shock" which is wrong.

But they have no case, they lost any chance of that when they let the 2 lads walk away without taking their details. They are just fishing for bonus arrests now.

As far as we know those men are wanted for questioning in relation to a public order disturbance in which glass objects were thrown at two individuals. IF the bottles etc were thrown as two people with knives were behaving in a threatening manner (seems likely as no punches were thrown and it's logical knives is why people stood back). Then while this is wrong, and action needs taking, there clearly is mitigation.
IF fans used racist language while throwing bottles or worse still did it purely because of race, then significant charges need to be sort by the CPS.

What I loathe is the way people casually racialise incidents. It's inflammatory and does all sections of the community no favours. If race is at play let's root it out and take severe action, but without knowing the facts let's not throw damaging slurs around in such a lazy way.

They aren't wanted for anything though, if you actually read the police tweets they are simply people they want to speak to as they were there and may have witnessed something.

This is the issue, the dibble post your picture and people are going to assume you are wanted for something.

The sensationalist CET header doesn't help.

So you were caught lying and you don't even have to common decency to apologise?

I'd stick to making yourself look foolish on threads about the new ground site and the trust.

I was accused of something once and asked for proof of said accusation and never heard back. History repeating itself.

We don't know what's happened, but if we want to get the Cludo game out, then perhaps...

... they've had a hit on the knife and have identified one of the black lads. They bring him in and he's made allegations against those who were chasing him. They have no deails of anybody involved, nobody's come forward depite previous appeals, so because things like this are a hot topic they've spent some time trawling the images to find people they need to talk to and find out who's bullshitting.

If you know what has happened, have you offered your statement to the police?

The below is more a general comment, and not directed at Clint.

I don't know the details and wasn't there, so can't help in that regard. I'm guessing that in building a better picture of what actually went on, the release of these pictures by WMP is a request for these people to come forward and provide witness statements. If they've done nothing wrong, then what's the problem? The Police have already asked for witnesses to come forwards and I'm sure many people who were in the vicinity have already provided witness statements.

These people haven't, and they haven't been accused of anything, but they clearly have an important perspective on what actually occured, so why wouldn't the police want to speak to them? This is nothing at all to do with football btw.

Had a look at the pictures because I’m pretty good at the picture round at the local pub quiz. Number 1 is def Zammo from Grange Hill.... But can’t remember his real name. I just know that WMP are going to be as tough as the bloke who runs our pub quiz and gets off on being really strict with the exact answer. Looks like no civic duty pat on the back for me after all.

It's to do with how the police can treat football supporters and incidents involving football supporters differently and how they can pursue a fairly serious charge for a very minor infringement when it suits them, an afftay charge for pushing someone with the tips of your fingers, jail for throwing a smoke bomb, theyre not a made up example, they happened.
