Callum contract offer (3 Viewers)

Yep agreed , just read a piece on CET regarding what Callum said to sky stating “he hasn’t a clue regarding his contract” basically his agent is negotiating it!
Players always say this, just enjoy the ride with him like he is us. Someone else will fill the void they always do.

Any player saying that he hasn’t a clue is simply lying.

Its like me buying a house but at that particular moment the solicitors are doing their bit.

Id still know what was going on even if the solicitor was involved at that point.

There are 2 options, either Ohare simply won’t sign but he can’t say so or they are negotiating a better deal (That Ohare is fully aware of)

If he continues his run of involvement in goals, it will be very difficult for Doug to say not to a big wage packet.

I think he wants to collect offers and see where we end up this season. Even if he wanted to stay there’s an argument that says back yourself to make yourself worth more in the next four months.

When we lost Vik and Gus we got a good fee. With Cal we'd have no money, so worth breaking the structure for.
That doesn't happen in isolation though. If you break the wage structure for him there will be other players knocking on the door demanding a raise, not to mention players coming in who will want the same level of pay.

Even if we did break the wage structure we're not competing with Premier League wages so the position doesn't change.

Team looks to be getting on really well and for once there’s no drama. In rolls Gimoc with the “everyone hates eachother, the dressing room is falling apart” bs, if Cal is aggrieved that Simms is on decent money then by all means he can leave.
Clueless, sign the contract!

I know he’s had a big injury and out for a year but I’ve seen enough since he’s been back and for me, COH should be our top earner

Yeah I see it that way. Ball is in his court. No doubt if he keeps playing like today the club will make a better offer + we might go up. Still think he will sign a deal.

Worst case scenario is he breaks down and we likely tie him to a short cheap deal. He’s not the type to think about worst case though IMO and will be happy to see where he is in May.

Like it's been said earlier I don't think he's going to sign . He'll stay till the end of the season and see where we finish. If we are good enough to get promoted he will sign a new , bigger contract . If we don't he will listen to offers and see where he feels his future lies .
Let's be honest he's been amazing for us since the league 1 days and deserves the opportunity to play in the Premier League . Hopefully with us but if he goes onto bigger and better things we shouldn't wish him anything but good luck for the future

Say we give him a 4 year contract and the same happens again, id say its an unacceptable risk when we’re trying to build a club. Max 2 year contract on decent wages.

i doubt contract length is the issue. It will be about £££ per week as it usually is.

It's not in his interest to tie himself to us right now. Whatever deal we're offering now would still be on the table in the summer, he might as well wait and see the other offers.

The time to do it was six months ago when he was still injured and may have had some confidence doubts. (as I said below back in July)

If we haven’t offered him a new and improved contract yet I think we’ll massively regret it in 6-12 months

The consensus seems to think that he will ‘ break down again ‘ .
A replacement could as easily have a bad injury during a game .
Cal is a big part of this club , he’s here , talks of the love for the club , infectious & without him , it would be a massive & financial mistake

Did the club the lesson with Jodi and the last owners and go to the top surgeon?

Going Lester ain't he, 40 grand a week. Don't even have to move house.

Of course O'Hare wants to stay with us. Just look how much his goals mean to him. Watch his celebrations after the game.

I love the way most know its all about the money. But his next contract is the most important of his career. The biggest pay day but also his chance to test himself against the best. You can see there's no animosity on either side. But ambition is the hardest thing to come to an agreement with. Otherwise they don't sound that far apart.

I’ve seen lots of tweets and comments this last week or two about sell him, cannot let him go on a free, Palmer can player the same role etc
1. We paid nothin for him, would be nice to have a transfer fee if he chooses not to accept an offer but I think if he stays for the rest of this season, he makes the difference between being top 6 or not and therefore what’s that worth to the club and us as fans? Teams like a forest and Luton have built better the second year after they just missed out and we feel like the same, all those teams added in January, not selling
2. Palmer has skills and at times is a joy to watch but nowhere near the level or type of player that o’hare is.

I wouldn’t sign anything now if I was him
I'd guess that COH's agent is trying to get a higher guaranteed salary as part of the new contract
There will almost certainly be relatively high incentive payments in our existing offer but those are of course contingent on him being fit to play (and picked by the manager if out of form)
It's a risk but probably one worth taking

Deffo a risk from the clubs point of view, and the owner has to keep a hold on the salaries being offered but this does feel quite pivotal in the season, If he signed imagine the further boost it gives to the fans and team? - thats said my 10p would be on him staying until the summer and then leaving.

How far apart do you think we are?

for me the fitness thing is weird - it’s not like he’s been riddled with injuries.

He has in recent years.

It's a difficult situation but great to see his positive attitude regardless of whether he is staying or not. What a brilliant player he has been for us. One of my favourite players of all time.

He hasn’t though - he had one at the start of last season that was out of character then the ACL which is kind of a freak incident, other than that he’s regularly played 40+ games for us
