@BlueSkiesForever would rather have Brekalo in the number 10 roleMind you his name isn't Callum OHario and playing in the Belize Second Division so @BlueSkiesForever is probably against keeping him!

No mate nothing more than it just not being as cut and dry as it seemed in May. You would assume that our cut off time for saying put up or shut up would be very soon with the window officially opening Friday
As i say, I don't want anyone to cling onto this, or assume he's going to stay because nothing up until now has indicated he wants to be here
But not signing up to anyone yet and our offer not being taken off the table is more positive than I thought it would be at this stage

It makes sense.Depends on which is preferable to every individual. Spending a fair few million in transfer fees on someone like Rudoni or potentially keeping O'Hare?
I wonder if that might be where the new deal has come from - they've looked at the overall cost of other alternatives and decided that it's actually cost effective to consider paying Callum a little bit more?

Can’t we have O’Hare and Stamenic? Just increase O’Hare’s wages for a year, gives us an extra oomph for this season and if we don’t make it to the prem then O’Hare can look elsewhere this time next year?Secret option number three: sign someone more effective than either of them like Stamenic.
Genuinely thought he had already agreed and knew his next club. If he didn’t, well…it’s all rather unfortunate.Would be jokes if his lack of effort late in the season to secure his move made it so his move isn't as profitable as he thought and now he has to stay.
He wouldn’t walk into any lower prem team, he isn’t good enoughLook lads we need to just get real, he isn't staying and it doesn't matter anyway because he's shit and why would we want to keep someone who downed tools months ago. If he did decide to stay however it would definitely be an amazing signing who is already at prem level and would cost millions to find a replacement and would walk into any championship team and lower/mid table prem team.
Is this to do with us not being able to agree anything for a replacement?? (Not that I know anything either way)No one get excited with this btw
But we offered one last roll of the dice a few weeks back and as of this moment it's still in play
That's not to suggest he's staying, it's just made him think twice before pen to paper elsewhere apparently
Always his secret plan to stay - not play as well so other teams don't offer as much and he can say to his agent "Why don't I just sign the Cov deal?"Would be jokes if his lack of effort late in the season to secure his move made it so his move isn't as profitable as he thought and now he has to stay.
...not sure we can compete with what his girlfriend offers him.Cal has always been open to staying, he likes living at home, being able to visit his nan when he wants and he is seeing a local girl.
It's always been on, it just depends on the offer we made
Don't think Stamenic is an AM so not a comparable alternative. And means we could go after O'Hare/replacement and Stamenic.Secret option number three: sign someone more effective than either of them like Stamenic.
Yeah I’m assuming Stamenic is an Allen/Eccles replacement, I hope we then play 3 of O’Hare, Sheaf, Torp, Stamenic in the midfield.Don't think Stamenic is an AM so not a comparable alternative. And means we could go after O'Hare/replacement and Stamenic.
Totally agree except I don't see him as a gamble. As you say he’s been a great player for us and I can see him improving too. Seems popular in the squad too. Signing him without a fee would give us more scope to make other signings.Would love Callum to sign. A gamble but with a bigger squad and more rest, I think we can get the best out of him especially as I don't think he has fully recovered from his injury problems yet.
Been a brilliant player for us and if he can stay injury free can be a massive asset.

Interesting take tbf, always good to think outside of the box. So I’m guessing you’d play 4-3-3? I think some of our best form last season came when we briefly tried 4-3-3, and it’s also the formation a lot of the top teams around the world use, or a variation of at least.I don’t think O’Hare is the type of player we need. We need a proper midfielder not a forward. I’d rather have Torp or Eccles in a three playing slightly further up than another dribbler like O’Hare or Rudoni.

I can understand that if we're playing a three, but O'hare does do a lot of running and if we can get him back to pre-injury levels he is more than just an attacker.I don’t think O’Hare is the type of player we need. But either way I feel it's good to have different options and styles to bring in to give the opposition more to worry about.
Tbf I actually see where you’re coming from there and probably agree with you. A 4-3-3 with Torp, Sheaf, Stamenic and Wright/EMC, Simms, Saka would probably work quite well.I just felt we didn’t control the midfield last season and with two 19 goal players plus Saka/EMC the forwards have got it covered. We aren’t a counter attacking side as much as if we want to compete at the top we need to be able to control games more. O’Hare/Palmer play almost as second strikers and I don’t think Sheaf and Eccles at enough on their own. Though TBF maybe Shefa and Stamenic would be.
If we sign O'Hare he would be a starter surely and one of our best players. What O'Hare along with players like Binks would give us if we could retain them is optionality. It would allow Robins to do much more rotation and also change up the approach mid game stylistically... something he doesn't do a lot.
If we can get a deeper squad even if they don't all fit a specific style (that's never really been Robins' way) I think back about those games where we always looked like we were overrun from the first 10 minutes alone. Those games can be won if we're able to really mix things up on the fly.
We're too used to having a first 11 and that's it. Players like O'Hare could become impact players when we really need it. Not sure he'd want it that way though!
I agree about optionality but IF we give COH a bumper new contract to stay it’s not to have him as an impact sub …..What O'Hare along with players like Binks would give us if we could retain them is optionality. Not sure about that - and yep it's a big IF. Depending on the business we do, many "starters" may end up being subbed much earlier than we are used to.I agree about optionality but IF we give COH a bumper new contract to stay it’s not to have him as an impact sub …..
Lets all be honest. We have had COH for a few seasons now and we havent made the grade for promotion with him (last season) or without him (2023). Its time to roll the dice and get some fresh blood. If he wants to stay, then fine, but he will have to earn his place and why would we pay over the odds to keep him when we havent achieved with him?
