2019 / 20 (league one) - 29 games, 3 goals and 3 assists

2020 / 21 - 46 games, 3 goals 8 assists
2021/22 - 45 games, 5 goals 8 assists
2022/23 - 11 games, 0 goals 3 assists
2023/24 - 24 games, 6 goals, 3 assists

TOTAL - 126 games, 13 goals, 22 assists

35 goal involvements over 126 games, roughly one in four, for an attacking midfielder average at best and hardly pulling up trees is it? or am I missing something?

Palmer has played 54 league games for us and has 4 goals and 5 assists so a one in 6 game involvement. 1 goal this season in the league.

I watched Utd against Brentford and Brentford should have battered them the amount of chances they missed. Utd are dodgy at the back and their midfield is not particularly interested in tracking back. We will get space and with O’Hare in the team we will get chances.
The only thing that worries me about Utd is their pace and movement in forward areas. We also need to do a job on Fernandes as he pulls all the strings for them. I’m hoping all of their left backs are still injured too as they have no balance on that side of the pitch currently
I watched the game as well. Your comments were spot on. Agree that Fernandes will need special attention as he is so crucial to making them tick. Really need to keep him quiet if we are to have a chance. Palmer wil be a big miss for us.

CoH has been a fantastic servant for us, signed him on free and he leaves free.

However, saddle is fair to ask question - there has been stuff going on off field with him in terms of his next destination and has that effected his performance / robins has not been happy with what’s gone on?

its fair challenge.

However he also has massive part to play in the run in! He could still fire us to promotion and cup glory! (He’s going to have massive stage in the semi final)

There’s a fair debate to have, but anyone saying he’s not committed is wide of mark. I just think he’s lost form and off field stuff effecting him at same time.

when we get promoted and win fa cup he might even change his mind (bin his agent and agency off!)

It’s hilarious that I’m sent to the proverbial stocks by our own version of Matthew Hopkins for outrageous slurs to you know who - but a thread suggesting our best player in the last few seasons can be accused of not caring or trying and not a peep

He also forgets the fact that O’Hare essentially drove us forward. I’m glad we’re getting more players to do this, but O’Hare regularly moved us forward out of nothing at times
Palmer will be a huge miss (his progress has shocked me more than Simms) but the stage is now set for O'Hare and I think he'll grab it. He's quality, so let's enjoy him while he's still here

I saw it but couldn’t hear the commentary, did Garnacho go off injured?

Not sure, I thought it was tactical as he wasn’t really in the game but could have been injury related. Would rather Anthony play against us that Garnacho
100%. I was hoping he’d picked up a knock.
Im also hoping Mason Mount hasn’t rediscovered his form.
My Man Utd supporting mate reckons we’ll get chances against them. He says they’re “pretty awful” a lot of the time. On the few occasions I’ve seen them they’ve seemed to find winning goals from somewhere.

As an aside, was Ivan Toney always that good? Ridiculous skill from him to set up their goal.

Lindelof and Varane both went off with knocks yesterday, don't think they're serious though.
I genuinely don’t know if them playing or not is good or bad. Varane must be good right? I remember Lindelof being slated a while back?
They seem to have some slow players. My mate said that Casemiro hasn’t adapted to the pace of the prem.

It depends on if you think they're any better or worse than Maguire who would come in for them.

If the rumours are to be believed that O’Hare knows where he’s going then I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s taken his foot off the gas. Even if only subconsciously. Especially given his previous experience.

I’m still not convinced by Palmer. His actual goal involvements are very low.

He was involved in two goals yesterday but only credited with one. Assists are a poor metric really. And he plays in a three man midfield behind three forwards who have scored 40 goals.

Still, 1 goal & 3 assists in 24 league games is pretty poor. He can be a frustrating watch too, takes an extra touch too often.

I agree he needs to improve on this output. I also agree sometimes he over complicates things, and I feel he needs to concentrate on doing what is effective rather than the spectacular. However, if he gets that right we certainly have a Premier League quality player on our hands. Probably only Van Ewijk has as much talent.

I think O'Hare will suit the United game more than Palmer having watched them last night.
Of course we won't now have the option of one of them from the bench which is a blow.
Maybe Allen will be fit by then? Admittedly not of the same quality but his energy might be really useful from the bench.

Palmer is 27 though and from what I've seen that's the story of his career - flattering to deceive. Not saying I want him gone or anything but assuming O'Hare does go we should be looking to bring in someone better.

He's not flattering to deceive at the moment.

He’s had spells at clubs before and then resorted to type

Championship clubs will always take a chance on players like him if he’s free. It will be interesting to see if he signs a new deal with us or not

He’s had one club between leaving Chelsea and joining us. What are you on about?

All this just to avoid saying you were wrong 🤣

Hes played 15 for derby about 30 for Huddersfield and 12 for Swansea as well as playing for Bristol. He played 4 games in the premier league at Huddersfield

I've been a critic of Palmer but think he's playing well at the moment, probably the best we've seen from him since he's been here.

I agree, so strong and can get the ball up the pitch effectively, can take players on and drive forward. does try and hit a Hollywood pass more often than not, but offering more than Cal at the minute.

It is his best run of form and he’s contributing, but not exactly lighting up the league like O’Hare was for a month or two. I think we should be ambitious and look for someone better in the summer with Kasey being a very capable squad player.

But hasn't included,

Still recovering from a long term injury or being asked to play a slightly different role.

Some people just love trying to put the players down.
This.

You sometimes see this with player coming back from injury, they can start like a train (adrenaline?) but then struggle relatively.

I can 100% say that the lad has come back stronger, his end product has improved no end. I'll be sad to see him go, he's given me and my boy no end of great memories. Good luck to the lad.

He has the best assists per minutes ratio and most shot creating actions per minutes of anyone in the squad, so he is creating a lot. But definitely needs to add goals to his game.

This formation and style of play really suits him though, he's able to pick passes to Simms/Wright that O'Hare can't.
