A disaster every week. Grid lock and even if you could get to the exit the lights are so quick only a few cars can get out. Pete, who can I get in touch with? Has there been any work to try and change the timings of the lights to get cars out?

Road is literally closed yet the lights are still set to favour it.

It's so so simple. The Council know they are shutting the road and mobilize an army of people to do this. Yet no one has the foresight to think about adjusting the lights sequencing so traffic flow in the open routes is optimized for 30 mins after the game. The people in charge of roads and traffic management in this country are either clueless or don't drive on the roads they look after!

While I am sharing my frustrations currently on UK motorways there are 100s of average speed checks and I can't remember the last time I saw someone working or a genuine need for 'slowed traffic'. 😟

I genuinely think the M1 towards Luton from Cov/Rugby way has been average speed check in certain places for about 10 years. It really is a joke how many of these there are in the UK.

Does it even need a light sequence? Just do a diamond of cones across the junction and close access from the A444 into the arena for about 20 mins after the game.

Would allow for 4 lanes of exits 2 towards the M6 and 2 down towards. Could do with some decent road management at the blue ribbon island while all the road works are on going.

I’ve decided the only option is to sit in the car and listen to CWR until the road opens but I appreciate some people may not have the time to do that.

We live 120 miles away so the road closures are a pain especially after night games.

But I actually don’t think the closures are the main issue

When leaving Elland Road, they changed the direction of the traffics leaving the stadium meaning there were 4 lanes diverting traffic out (I think this was mentioned above) - that’s in option that we could use

Another one is actually allowing stewards / council workers to step in and control / flow the traffic. At present when the road is opened there is a free for all and this creates more issues. All whilst countless people are stood around in their yellow jackets watching

Its simple, have people at certain exits manually overriding the lights and ensuring a traffic flow

it would be so much simpler.

The road closure is complete overkill with no consideration for the knock on effect on surrounding roads and existing roadworks. Causes Longford Road to be standstill towards the City, so everyone queues round the Novotel island blocking that off too. After Swansea with temp traffic lights by the old Black Horse pub it was chaos. What's more dangerous is people running across the road by the Novotel island, as there's no proper places to cross. On the A444 there's a bridge, underpass, and designated crossings. If people could just use them properly there'd be no need for any of this. Needs a serious rethink all round.

Sorry to disagree with you all but I love all the road closures.

Yes it means that folks have to wait or park further away than usual but it’s way better getting out of the stadium now.

Especially now we have way more supporters at the ground.

Much smoother, much quicker and much safer.

Seen at least 10 near misses outside the ground by crazy fucking drivers and IMHO a fatality was bound to happen.

Great decision by the club.

From what I'm told the club have asked for the after game road closures yet have been passing the buck on
isn't that how all event road closures work? you request the closure and then the relevant authorities deal with it, and send you the bill.

are you expecting King out there directing traffic, Wright putting out cones at half time?

No not at all

But the club saying 'ooo it's not us you need to take it up with' it is indeed them

They could do with some management in Car Park A TBH. Absolute chaos there, worse after we’ve lost IMO, people trying to shove in or cut across to get out, no organisation at all.

Why not have a managed exit from the stadium for a period? Say ten minutes after the game pedestrians only, then coordinate the stadium car parks leaving along the closed roads for the next twenty mins, then open it all up so people can get into the stadium.

Those near misses were because people who were too entitled, or in too much of a hurry, wouldn't use the crossings. I have seen parents dragging their kids across six lane of traffic. The road closures were introduced to protect idiots from their own stupidity. Having ranted about that we have got used to it. We park in CtK so spend 10-15mins over a coffee and leave to an almost empty car park and less congestion.

One problem in car park c is the traffic still coming down the A444 to the arena shopping park gets stuck in the middle of the road thus stopping cars leaving even when lights are on green

And the people in their cars treated the roads like Pedestrians were incidental. It’s clear that the increased crowds would need a safe way of leaving. City could do a lot more to make the delay more acceptable. Every club has the same problem. Some of them leave kiosks open cater for those who are delayed.

There are options locally. However, those are a walk away. I saw more parking tickets being dished out than I have in a long time. Near the scrapyard, burbages lane, wheelwright Lane and the top of st Giles Rd. But they also let others park without ticketing as well. (100metres further down the road)

The amount of times it's closed midweek after games is unbelievable too. Spent far too many hours driving through Northamptonshire countryside.

It's probably netting them a few bob, but also I guess it's good way examining criminal activity after the fact?

Nothing happening on the roadworks so even when the roads do open it's still slow. Need to at least move cones gor the time of the games then put them back out. Appreciate there's a cost, but the policing finishing quicker to pay a few lads on a van to remove and replace would save lots get the traffic away. With poor performances on the pitch, it's another added reason people don't need to think twice about attending.

The public transport we used yesterday was about I/2 an hr late on the way but timed perfectly afterwards,it was very welcome bus full both ways,in fact if it was supplied adequately im confident they could run several times and do away with at least a thousand car journeys if they invested in the infrastructure and people required, thinking double time on midweek evening's and overtime rates for Saturdays!!

They opened the A444 but left Wheelwright / Hen Lane closed for a good 15 minutes longer yesterday. It’s just so overkill. It should not take me nearly an hour (sometimes longer) to get to the M6, especially when the ground was designed in area specifically for ease of access to the motorway.

Close the roads for a short period, fine. But most people are out of the way 15/20 mins after the game finishes.

Although a big thing to do it is better and it’s not the road closure that causes issues with car park C. Car park C had same issues before the road closure and they stem from the lights being so short there’s no time to for anyone to get out. If the timing of the lights could be adjusted for some time after the game I’m confident thing would improve dramatically.

The melee to get out has been compounded the last few seasons as the orientation of the spaces and the lanes was changed a couple of years ago.

The road closure would make a lot more sense if it was also used to get traffic away from the stadium rather than simply allow everyone to get to their cars then effectively try and leave at the same time.

For example, you could have the A444 closed to the public but have a single lane each way for the Tesco car park and car park C.

Although the road wouldn’t be completely closed for pedestrians you’d have limited traffic and could have some stewards/police supervising. They’re only stood around watching a traffic jam currently so may as well be used for something productive.
