I fear pressley will do a thorn and stick with a formation that simply doesnt work , we need to go 442 obrien right side , swanson left with fleck and thomas central , but we need q good CM As thomas otfers us nothing , miller and tudgay upfront
I was talking to a Barnsley fan on my holiday and he said that O'Brien is no wide player, he hasn't got the burst of pace to get past the defender. He said his best games were central mid and as a box-box player he was much better. Elvis needs an experienced holding player...Thomas is not the answer.

Pressley:- Really good in the second half.
Again, mentioned a lot of positives.
A lot to be encouraged about.
Have to play with less fear.

O'Brien looks to show some good touches, I think we have some good ball players but don't have any pace and power.

Fucking hell listen to us all!!!! What on gods earth did we expect?? We've sold or released all our best players, replaced them without just about anyone who was desperate enough to join us, filled the rest of the gap with young lads who are either not ready or not good enough and we expect to beat a team that was playing premier league football last year. I've got no problem with all this say ten games in if it's still this shit, but both our two games we've played i expected to loose (hopeful of a draw at Bradford). We're flat broke playing in front of 1500 fans and we're all, pissed off with it, turning on the players and gaffer who are making the best of a god awful situation not caused by them is not the answer.

Pride & effort would be a good start. I'd be embarrassed if I played that poorly at Sunday league level. Yes he's stuck in a shit situation, but the players brought in aren't rejects we've picked up from nowhere. Some of them played at a higher level then this last season. The things he can control hes messed up on, the formation and tempo is down to him.

RIGHT

The problem is the formation plain and simple, if you can't see this you're as blind as Pressley.

Clarke and Pugh aren't wing backs, yet at times are our only attacking threat. They along with the two forwards find themselves in forward areas but have no midfielders to link up with.

The midfield three don't know what their exact roles are, and only have each other to pass the ball to, before ultimately going backwards.

The whole structure is wrong and as a result we invite pressure on, whilst allowing the other team to dominate the ball.

When we occasionally get forward, they're aren't enough bodies in advanced positions for us to create anything.

These are good players, they just haven't a fucking clue how to play this system. Play 4-4-2 and we would reap the rewards. 5-3-2 just restricts a teams ability to attack. Even the Dutch got it wrong in the WC against Costa Rica, if they'ed set up in a 4-3-3 they would have won the game easily, by setting up in a 5-3-2 they allowed Costa Rica possession and a foothold in the game

Can't argue the formation and tempo or the overall appearance of effort, if you've played though like most of us have how many times have you tried playing a different style and it's just not worked?? . Like I said if he doesn't learn from this and change it back I'll be one of the first to voice my frustration but two games in is daft.

As for the signings you can't tell me if he was given 1.25mil of the Wilson money he would of still assembled the same squad I'm just not having that, yes they are his signings but are they really what he wanted?

I'm not saying there's no truth in some of what you've offered; but.....

.... we are significantly weaker than last year; and post-Christmas, we were already showing relegation form. The problem is significantly more profound than the system, for God's sake

It is one of the main reasons, our squad is good enough to challenge for the playoffs...if we play the 4-4-2 pressing style Elvis began with, not this 5-3-2 bollocks. Don't claim SISU, Sixfields and Tim Fisher at me, on the field it's the manager, the tactics he employs and the players (who would perform if they were set up in a way that allowed them to)

2 easy games next. Sheffield utd and Barnsley. Two teams who play at home and have invested readily. 2 more losses I'm afraid.

Formation and starting Swanson up front were main problems tonight. The amount of times we had 8 men behind the ball was ridiculous. We desperately need some pace in the side as well.

I was praying we didn't equalise in case I had to sit through extra time.

No it's not. The playing squad isn't good enough and the whole club demotivated. We'll be lucky not to be relegated at this rate, let along push at the other end. Within two games; we'll have lost our first four games - mark my words; and it won't solely be due to the formation. It just won't

It's not mid season and hes changed formation, hes had all pre-season to work on it, granted, I understand what you mean.

It doesn't matter if they weren't his first choice, he has a budget and he has to work within that, these are his signings, some from a higher level. He's said he signed Swanson & O'Brien to play on the wings, our current formation doesn't allow that, he has signed the wrong players for the formation he wants to play. Even then, if we were to play with wingers in a 442 then we still lack a target man.

IMO Tudguy and Pugh should never have been signed. It's like someone has offered him these players, hasn't really thought it through and is now adjusting to fit these in.

It's fine lines in football so excuse me if I don't join in the misery. We're potentially a player or two or a tweak in system from being a good side at this level.

is that the first 60 mins of 19% possession or the final 30 mins when we had a couple of shots on goal?

Is the formation the reason we couldn't pass the ball and kept losing posession
How can Presley say we were playing with to much fear of them , looked to me like they were told to drop off . They certainly didn't press

I'm really sorry in advance but if you are one of the 993 who went tonight. Congratulations you are helping killing our club. I don't care about what they say about supporting the lads etc. They are part of the problem with getting back to the Ricoh. They don't see it. They still blame the council and like the cheap tickets.

I didn't go tonight but I have purchased a season ticket for this season (and had one last season.)

For me, it has nothing to do with cheap tickets or blaming the council or supporting sisu. It is all about supporting the team. I thought long and hard about whether to renew my ticket and it was a very difficult decision to make. I hate this as much as everyone who chooses not to go, and I very much "do see it". To suggest otherwise is just plain wrong.

My biggest complaint is why oh why can't Jordan Willis play a forward pass.

Anytime he had procession of the ball the first thing eh thought was to pass the ball 20/30 yards back, he was so counter productive.

I love Ryan Haynes though, he could go far, probably not with us
